Hello all, I'm a lurker here on the forum.
Quick question, I know dealers p/x watches, but what the likelihood of me being able to p/x a SD43 for a white face Daytona and likely cash difference ? Thanks in advance |

It is short for part exchange.
It is when you trade something toward the cost of something else... |

You're going to get screwed on the deal, assuming you can even find a dealer that stocks the Daytona.

Trusted seller is the way to go. Assuming you are speaking of he new SD43/SD50, people have been calling the sd4k the 43 lately. Also assuming the 43 is used but mint and also assuming you are wanting the ss daytona c white. I'd say I'd be close with saying you will be coming out of pocket between 6-7k US. Trusted seller can but them now at the very highest retail or even lower. So used you will probably get 10-10,500 trade in value and daytona for 16-17k

I am not sure which Daytona White Dial your after but I purchased the Daytona 116503 Classic White Dial with Gold Sub Dials & it's an amazing looking piece the cost 11,210 English Pounds that was a saving of 1,190 English Pounds. The Watch was New it even had the Factory seals still intact with all accessories Including Warranty Card stamped signed & dated by an AD in Europe. The only difference from buying direct from an AD is the Warranty Card is not in my name but I was assured it would be honored in any RSC, So a considerable amount of money saved. I just wanted to give you an idea of the savings you can expect to make on this particular Daytona Model

I ordered the 126600. I picked up today. I prefer the weight of my 116660 so I'm wondering if because they carry a premium I should explore a trade. I think mint is fair description the registration date is today and the stickers still on. ( I'm wearing my GMT because of travelling). |

Going down fast becauaw AD's are getting more in. I guess I should clarify that if you are trading in the US you will not get a premium. I had a chance to flip a new one and was offered retail from one and 12k from another trusted sellers and that was two weeks ago. There are new and mint ones in the low 12's now so you wont get a prem trade in. You may be able to sell youself and make a few hundred over retail if you didn't pay tax....in US

We also tend not to use the phrase part ex but trade in if you end up doing the deal in the US.

I suggest you sell in UK where all SS pieces fetch a premium, then pick up a Daytona from a trusted grey exactly as you said. This will result in the least amount lost.

You might be able to sell privately for a small premium but I doubt dealers will pay over retail now, even in the UK, they see prices falling and supply is good. D500 will still be £3K over retail so you'll have a large difference to make up, not worth it for me.

Back in the UK now and dealers offering a decent amount more than I paid. Maybe it's time to sell and buy grey as suggested. |
