My Milgauss Choice Dilemma

I am really torn between the z-blue and the black Milguass.

Currently have a black C-Sub.

Really wanting this watch for the purpose of being a casual "strap monster" for when I think that the sub is too dressy. As well as something that is a bit more rugged.

I have no interest in a PCL bracelet as I know I would abuse it (given how hard I am on my sub with desk diving). So I envision black, gray and blue natos being constantly swapped as well as the occasional leather band.

The blue face is so nice and is calling me, but I know that it is far less versatile for strap options. Unbelievably googling "blue milgauss nato" doesn't return much.

The other option I'm weighing is a holes case 16570 in white, which is prob the most versatile, casual and most rugged of the 3 choices but less visually appealing.

Thoughts?

It's your watch to do with as you like but I think the Milgauss looks fantastic on the bracelet. The PCLs will get scratched. So what? There are few Rolex watches, mostly older models, that I feel look good on straps. All of that said, I think the black is the way to go here. Even though you already have a black dial Submariner, the GV glass on the Milgauss makes it just different enough. I do like the Z-blue dial as well but I think that's something I'd add after I had several Rolex pieces. The orange, green, and matte black dial just play so well together.

I've flipped a few watches over the past couple of years but my Z blue has remained with me. When the sun hits that dial, it's pretty special!
Wear mine on its bracelet but would look cool on blue or orange nato's.

Z blue is the way to go! Once you see the sunshine hit the dial you will be mesmerized and the decision will be made. Try both on at the AD to be safe. I like it on the bracelet, however there are some good NATO straps out there of you look. Search milgauss z blue on google and you'll see some strap ideas. Also if all else fails you could have the bracelet brushed.

I have the black one and I love it. Think the green crystal looks way better against the black dial.

GV for sure for me.

But if exclusively for straps? Not really.... I'd look instead at a Speedy Pro or a Panerai.

I have a Sub Lv (Kermit) and a Black face GV. Honestly I feel that of the two, the GV is more "dressy" notwithstanding I personally do not see either as dress watches, but instead
"tool" watches. YMMV...

It was designed for guys in swim trunks and a scuba tank. Most folks don't consider it dressy, but your opinion is as valid as theirs is. I have a Milgauss and a Sea Dweller. The diver is much less dressy IMO.

FWIW, the PCLs will be fine with your daily wear. I do everything from brush clearing to construction with mine, and they look just fine.

Of your three for casual I would say 16570. I would say the milgaus is dressier than your sub though.

black dial with green glass. The blue is a little juvenile. The black dial can be combined with a lot more dress styles. I would go see them all in person first.

Milguass is the absolute most comfortable reference, an explorer 39 mm would also be a good choice

I love my z-blue, its so unique and striking. It's furloughed the rest of the staff to the watch box, at least for now.

I got my black GV prior to the Z-blue. When the Z-blue was first released, I felt a bit of regret and wished I could trade it in.

But in the past 3 years since the Z-blue was released, I noticed I don't care for it as much, and if anything my love for the regular GV has only increased.

I just find I think the Z-blue is a bit too much color for me personally, in the same way I don't much care for the hulk or many other blue dialed watches. It's still a great looking watch, and I've always liked the all white indices of the non-GV black dial and the z-blue, but just my taste of what I actually reach for to put on in the morning, tends to lean towards simple black dialed watches.

If you sometimes wear a vneck and jeans to work I would recommend picking the black milgaus. It's clean and a very sporty look.
