Buying New Sub in Australia

Does anyone know what the wait time for a new Sub No Date in Australia is? A couple of AD's in Melbourne refuse to give any kind of time line. Very frustrating. Thanks in advance.

No one knows. The ADs really don't know. Be patient.

Dont bother. Your simply wasting all your time with any AD/Gray dealers in Australia. They either are going to rip you big time or your never going to get you what you want.

I've done all the hard work for you. Buy from David. Link below and get it on your wrist within a few days.

Sub dates are available from the greys to the tune of between 12-13k pre owned, no dates 10.5 -11.5k

I'm in Sydney. I visited a Kennedy AD yesterday. They quoted approximately a year for the Submariner, and a few months more for the Submariner Date. The waiting lists for these watches are only open to customers with a previous purchase history. I would expect ADs in Melbourne to offer similar waiting times.

Buying a new sub in Oz is very difficult.

Just ask the Guvmint.

You have more chance picking up a second hand Collins class than a Rolex Sub.

A quick search and at least 3 are available in Melbourne if you don't mind pre-owned, you can have one tomorrow

Like everywhere on Earth AD's have no Subs

Getting a sub in Australia is like getting a Daytona anywhere else in the world.

Australia is the number one place in the world for disappointment when it comes to SS sports models. Don’t even bother unless you want to spend double at a grey dealer.

A Rolex is probably more suited to water though

Couldn't agree more. Exchange rate sucks at the moment though. Last year wasn't much of a premium, but exchange rate and import tax make about a 30% premium over local from quick calculation on a Sub.

Picked a ND up in June after an ~10 month wait. I was told the ND was the first Sub they'd received in 7+ months.

Purchased from an AD with no history. Honestly think it was pure luck. I called to follow up and they happened to have one waiting for a VIP, he was kind enough to pass it onto me and he picked up a Skydweller they just received instead!

Australia is the NUMBER 1 disappointment country of the world when it comes to ANY watch not only Rolex.

I've lived here my entire life. Its a beautiful country - its just shithouse for any watches unless you want to get ripped bigtime by any Gray dealer. Well most the ones Ive dealt with and I've dealt with many

Can I ask if you had to pay GST when it arrived? What kind of shipping does davidsw offer?

I strongly recommend you talk to David directly about any questions you have.

What I can say publicly is he is top shelf and trust worthy.

Shipping was 3 days by FedEx.

Sadly we all have to pay GST on imports now, you can thank Gerry Harvey for that.

Can second this, I bought from DavidSW a few years ago and it was a seamless transaction, highly recommended

I went to Kennedy at The Star and asked about a Sub Date and was told it would be as long as two years. I have purchased from them previously. Trying to buy a SS pro model Rolex from an AD in Australia is a impossible.

I got super lucky with my AD in Melbourne, I picked up mine early this year less than 2 months after asking (if my memory serves me right).
The wonderful lady rep who got it for me said she was surprised when they received it as it was unexpected. I’m so glad she called me first!

Aside from my lucky scenario, it seems to be true that any SS, in particular subs, are essentially impossible to pick up new from an AD these days. Basically there are no SS watches of any type around, you don’t even see an Explorer any more.

From my brief research into this end of the market (Rolex SS) I assume it's almost as difficult to find a new one in HK as well?
I'm likely to pay a small premium over RRP for a lightly used second hand one later this week... don't know if I am ready to chase one down overseas next year (and heard that I may not have any luck anyway!)

Its unbelievable how hard it has become to buy a SS Rolex in Australia these days . 5 years ago it was the opposite. In Melbourne a few weeks ago and there were no SS models anywhere.

Unless you’re a very serious long time customer, you won’t get much luck. I’ve tried to my hands on one (I’m in Perth), and pretty much got told to wait.

Don't bother in Perth, been on the waiting list on all 3 ADs for a few years now and no luck.
