luminor marina vs 1950's case?
i just went to an aD to try pams.I don't really notice the difference of the 1950's case vs the luminor marina case??They look pretty same to me. But i've read a couple posts and i noticed most of the paneristis love the 1950's case more..I tried both, compoared both side by side and it looks pretty same to me. the difference is very minimal and not really noticeable..How do you see it guys?

There's a big difference, both in looks and how they wear on the wrist. Perhaps this will help you out:

It depends on how you look at it. First you have the different crownguard, second you have different shape from the bottom to top part, third the brush strokes are different on the casings.
But, when you look at it in a glance, yes it's difficult to notice the difference.. |

All polished classic Luminor case the best IMO. Not that fond of brushed ss...then we now have the polished 1950s case in the form of the 359 ...

What is the wording "reg" and "tm" on the crown guard refer to and why?

What do you mean not noticeable?
It's like comparing the old GMTII to the new GMTII ceramic!

Panerai invented that crown protector and then their patent ran out, so the trademarked the shape as being Panerai.

The 1950's case is clearly superior, IMO. And the one on the 233 is even superior to the one on the 312. It's lower profile and hugs the wrist just right.
When I had an 88, 90, and 24, I ALWAYS had problems with the watch slipping to one side, which drove me crazy. I did not have this problem with the 312 and especially the 233!

Great pics and they show the real difference which is from a side profile where the styling is very different. Personally I found that the 1950 sat better on my wrist than the more contemporary luminor case. In passing to the untrained eye they may seem the same, however, once you have seen the two next to each other then they are so different.
