Hi all....
i was wondering if this topic has been mentioned before .... if it is then good ...all of you can fire away...speak up and help me...

when i got home from the office today i found my cartier watch was placed accidentally over my bose stereo near the speaker by my brother who came by to my house and was looking for something ( that i didnt have in my room at the first place

)

anyway.... i know how magnetic field affect quartz movement only in a time where it is in the field. whilst automatic watch may be affected and therefore needs to be demagnitized.

should i be worry about this? or am i simply being paranoid?
oh also.... when the above happened, my watch wasnt runnign cos i havent worn them for 4 days

Since your Cartier has an automatic movement, I would probably monitor the watch over the next day or two and see if you notice it starting to run obviously faster. I do not think I would worry about it though. Even if it might have gotten slightly magnetized, which I dont think it did, it is not an expensive and major fix to have it demagnetized.

Well to magnetise any modern watch today nearly all have a certain amount of anti-magnetism. You would have to place the watch directly on the magnet,and leave it there,passing for a brief moment or near should have no affect whatsoever.

Check how your watch keeps time over the next few days.
If it is out of your usual timekeeping specifications, its easy to get it demagnatised by a good watchmaker, they don't even have to remove the caseback, they just pass the watch over a demagnetising device and it's done in 5 seconds

So I wouldn't be too concerned, but speakers and mechanical watches were not really made for each other

Also, boss speakers have incredibly weak magnets as compared to many. I would be surprised if they could magnetize a paper clip.

just want to give an update on the thread that i started.... till this time my cartier is within 5 seconds of my rolex....

so there ....i've cosc'ed my tank francaise myself

i believe most loudspeakers are magnetically shielded these days.......

Watches are pretty well anti-magnetic now days also. You'd be hard pressed to hurt one with basic stereo and video equipment found in the home.....

But.....

If you find yourself with the need for an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)....those babies put out enough energy to stop any Rolex dead in it's tracks.

Stay well away from the power source for those
