Personally, I would go for the Sub Date. I have and love my 14060, but more times than not I find myself looking for the date that just isn't there. Love the 14060, but....

I'm learning to like the no date since it is more symmetrical and is cleaner with the maxi-dial IMO.

Date if it’s your only watch, no date if it’s going to be your second Rolex. Btw I didn’t read the first page.

I had the same dilemma. But I made the right choice, and am a happy camper now.

I've never liked the Submariner with no Cyclops date window. I've never thought it looks clean or pure, it just looks empty.
Personally, the Submariner and GMT Master II looks so much nicer with the Cyclops. It adds a small little loupe to the watch and I just adore it. Besides, other watches pull off the no date look a lot better than the Submariner. Go for the date! |

Help me decide: Rolex Submariner Date or No Date
No date for me as I have the date on my GMT.

I would buy the no date, because I’d cheaper and it’s likely the same watch.

Here were my reasons for getting the ND:
Already had a Rolex with date $1050 cheaper, cheaper to service No cyclops, or the dirt you tend to see around the cyclops Shorter "Oyster Perpetual" text under Rolex logo Symmetric dial and lume Date takes longer to set after dead, especially if you don't know if it's dead at 6am or 6pm for example, then it requires another revolution around the dial Most iconic Sub models are ND less common in the wild

Started with 16610, then 114060 and now a 116610 all within a month. Love the date best. Rolex without cyclops looks incomplete to me.

No date. That is the way the watch was originally designed.

Definitely No Date. If date is needed than there is the 16600 SD without cyclop

From a classic beauty standpoint, I think most would agree with me that the no date is the clear winner. However, if its going to be your daily wearer and the main watch of your collection than I would go with the date in a heartbeat. Date complications are so useful

I would go for the no date sub. Just looks so sleek and it’s more true to the original sub.

I own the 114060 and love it. The clean crystal and symmetrical dial are unmatched.
I’m thinking down the road getting a 116610LN and selling the bracelet or finding a 116610LN head only. I would then throw the no date bracelet on the sub date and put a rubber b on the no date. Feel like the no date on rubber looks slick and sporty. I’m kind of hoping they come out with a new sub with slimmer lugs. I prefer the fat lugs and would hope the price on the 116610LN would come down a little. I know it’s repetitive but the rubber vs bracelet would be a cool duo. Anyone else do this or am I crazy? I have been wearing a Sea Dweller for many years and as you will know it has a date but without the cyclops. This does look much better in my mind as I find the cyclops does disrupt the look of a watch. I do like the cleaner look of a watch without the date but as far as the use of the date is concerned, I think it is very much overstated. In the 30 years of wearing my watch I don't think that I have relied on the date once. That's not why I wear a watch.

If this would be my only watch, without doubt I would get the date. If it is on rotation with some other watches I would consider the no date unless you like the cyclops iconic look.
