Compliments on my rolex today

So today as i was getting my shopping delivered and the guy noticed my submariner and complimented me. He knew it was a subby and showed me a picture of his explorer 1.
This is the first time since buying my rolex a year ago that someone has actually mentioned it in conversation. Usually people are shy or just don't care about watches that much.
We then continued to have a nice discussion about which other models we'd like.

It's really made my day Has anyone ever noticed your Rolex on your wrist?

Glad he knew it was a subby as no one here would have! But seriously it's nice when you meet someone like-minded.

An old friend noticed mine at a wedding. I wear a Sea Dweller. My bell & ross horizon is the watch that people always notice and talk about. Haven't had that lately because it has been getting zero wrist time.

The only time someone noticed mine was on a cruise last summer, he noticed my blue dial YachtMaster. He was wearing a SubC and we spoke about watches for a few minutes while waiting for our drinks by the bar..

The only watch anyone (not a WIS) has noticed was my yachtmaster.

Just last night during a singles tennis match, the guy I was playing asked if my watch was a Rolex while we talked during change-overs. He and I are about the only people in our tennis league that wear our watches during play. He has an Omega diver. I've had my Explorer II polar about two months and this is the first mention by anyone. He is visiting Switzerland in September and plans to visit either the Omega or Rolex facilities.

My Sub was noticed for the first time while at a pool tournament recently, by another guy who was into watches.

Then at league the other night I noticed a guy had on an Omega Speedmaster X33....almost never see that one in the wild, so that was cool. Told me about how his son was in the Navy and got them for a discount so he got one for his dad and another for his brother as well as himself. Gentlemen said nobody had every commented on it before and he was surprised I knew exactly what it was.

One time in a Rolex AD and she complimented me on my "older model" Hulk that I was wearing. She said it was beautiful.

The Hulk is only 1 year old and the most current version. Not even sure what she was talking about so I left.

Pelagos, I get comments all the time. "Wow, that's a cool watch! What is it?"

My boss the other day.

Boss " new watch?"

Me "no, Ive had it for a few months."

Boss " what is it?"

Me "Timex"

Boss " Really?

Me " no"

Boss " is it a Rolex?" (laughs)

Me " well actually it is"

Boss " Really? Better keep an eye on it" ( turns away and goes back to work)

That conversation ended quickly.

In 30 years only a handful of times. Mostly similar to your situation with another WIS starting up conversation. Occasionally a "nice watch" comment but pretty rare. Last time was this spring. We had an auditor from one of our contracted insurance companies--I am in healthcare. She was very attractive and very nice. She said "is that what I think it is" pointing at my LB Sub. I said "yes, I think so". She asked if she could hold it...I took it off and handed it to her. We talked watches a bit, she is somewhat of a WIS. Pretty cool encounter really. Usually audits suck but she was rather pleasant. Her goal watch is a 114060!!

Very rarely... maybe couple times I got the "nice Sub" comment. However I get more compliments for my Apple watch.

I generally comment if I see a nice watch in the wild (not necessarily just Rolex). I sat next to a gentleman on a flight back from Burbank the other day and I noticed his ref 1016 Exp 1 and commented that it was a beautiful watch. He was probably in his early to mid 60's and said his father had given it to him as a graduation present. I commented back that I hope to do the same for my son or daughter. He smiled and we parted ways. I hope he wasn't offended, but was very cordial.

Today an employee of one of my best customer noticed my BLNR. I've worn it a bunch of times around him. Hes like ohhh nice Rolex. Is it fake? I'm like seriously...what do you know about Rolex? As a matter of fact don't talk to me about my watch. Conversation over after that. How dare he think my watch is fake! I'm the freaking owner of the company LoL

Am I the only one that doesn't take offense if someone asks if my watch is fake? In fact, depending on who it is, I typically say yes it is. Better to be looked down upon by some random uneducated guy than to be a target with cash wrapped around a wrist.
