Oh he'll get a chance to do that if he goes along with the cunning plan I proposed (ie. give this to her now and then have her pick another one from the AD)

Thinking about it I don't think the AD experience was worth £1000 as the piece itself was only a few months old. A year will pass by in no time, looking forward to updating this thread with pics next year.

That's great and I'm sure she is going to love it! 1 year must have been so long for you before being able to offer the present!

In a little bit similar situation, my wife went to buy my first Rolex for my birthday but I'll have to wait until the end of January to open my pressie. Knowing that it's here, in the house and in its box is so frustrating! And the more time I spend on this forum, the more I'm dying to be end of Jan! Arrrrrgh!

Gorgeous. My wife is turning 40 next year as well. Green is also her favourite colour. This is the exact watch I will be looking for for her.

In fact, it is the only watch that has actually excited her and she said she would wear everyday. Slowly I am converting her...

Congrats to the Misses. It's a great looking watch, and she's already given it the stamp of approval. Why wait to give it to her? I found myself in a similar situation with my wife and our anniversary, and I could only hold out for 2 months. I surprised her with the watch and let her know we'll focus on our time together celebrating rather than gifts this year.

Besides, usually when people buy gifts early, they end up spending more and getting more than they planned.

Amen to that! She's being spoilt with other things but hopefully the watch will be the icing on the cake! The first few weeks/months were tough, but slowly it's been actually quite easy. She's not really a massive watch fan, so I've had the past year to make comments to spark more of a interest. Here's hoping the gamble pays off.

Thanks for all the kind comments, hopefully will be posting some wrist shots next week :)

I'm actually looking at purchasing the same watch, but in blue dial, for my wife. It is a great value for the money and the 34mm size is perfect. Excellent purchase!

I’m new to this forum and this was a great post. I got to read the beginning and I thought no way will he actually last waiting a year! Than when I saw a year later you posted it was wrapped up I couldn’t help but laugh! That is awesome! She’s going to love the gift! Possibly even more once she finds out you had it hiding a year. Me on the other hand, I buy my girlfriend gifts a month prior to her birthday and I always end up giving them to her prior. I’m not a patient person lol!

Found a deal on a DJ for my wife as a tenth anniversary gift and I gave it to her 8 months early. Now THAT was a surprise and the best ever. What ever reason you got it, giving it to her earlier will truly be an even bigger surprise. Just my two cents!

I’ve only got another 8 days to wait so early wouldn’t make that much difference!
