Batman- Submariner to similar?

What do you guys think? Submariner 114060 and BLNR together in one very small collection 3 pieces for example, are they to similar?

If a regular GMT then I'd say yes, too similar in looks, both being black, and having turnable bezels.

The blue on the BLNR and polished centre links would be enough to differentiate, plus you have the GMT complication also.

Go for it.

They’re definitely not too similar.
I’m happy to have them both in my collection.

No way.
Similar only to the untrained, non-WIS eye.
Two completely different watches for different functions.

Watch guys are VERY VERY picky so there will be a lot of differences pointed out!! facts- they are both black dials, same case, SS bracelet, one has a black bezel and the other is black/blue. WAY too similar for me....

Agreed. However, you also get no cyclops with the 114060 so maybe a tad more different. But, it is YOUR collection and all that matters is if you like them both.

The GMT LN and SubC are fairly similar in appearance. I prefer the SubC. However, the GMT BLNR holds its own against the SubC. They are sufficiently different to warrant being in the same collection.

They're different enough to justify owning both. I do and don't feel they're too similar.

Don't think so.....but then again you ask 95% of the people on the street and no one could tell the difference between a GMT or a Submariner.

I think so, but only because I would prefer to diversify with other watches before adding a Sub to my (hopefully) shortly forthcoming BLNR. That said, I do hope to add a 5 digit sub (no date) one watch after the BLNR....
Though as was mentioned above, if you've got a different bezel colored GMT that helps differentiate the two, and I would strongly advocate for a sub over a sub date in general and especially given your concern they are too similar.

I have now--
114060
216570 white dial
Lovely couple, but i am afraid to ruin it with adding a 3d one that MIGHT be to similar, but on the other hand i love a few watches and the BLNR is just beautifull...

I am not first and foremost a Rolex guy. Stumbling into an AD which pulled out a BLNR for me (prior to which, I had not know of its existence) is what even opened me up to Rolex in the first place. If you're open to exploring other brands I could not endorse that enough. If you're strictly a Rolex guy, go for it. At minimum, you sure as hell know the difference.

Fair enough! Just make sure you check out the JLC 1428530 if you haven't yet. By far and away the best sub-$10K watch on the market IMO. Otherwise get your BLNR no doubt about it!

Same same but different...? Haha

They are different but for me too similar to have in the same collection. I'm all about simplicity and symmetry so the Sub No Date works best for me. If I wanted a splash of color the GMT is good choice.

Aesthetically, they are very similar. Functionally, two completely different watches. Absolutely worth having both...

Aside from having bezels with numbers, there's quite a difference aesthetically, functionally and how they wear.

Sounds good to me. SubC, with no PCLs, no date, solid colored bezel. Good to go, Wrap it up.

Indivividually tremendous watches, but if you only have 3 in your entire collection I would say too similar. How some people can have them both and a Pepsi and no date Sub in their collection is bizarre to me

In your original post you didn't mention the 216570 was your other one, but now we know you have that, the 'completely different functionality' of the Batman vs no date SubC is pretty much negated.

So you have
A black dial with mercedes hands, circular indices and a ceramic bezel
A white dial with mercedes hands, circular indices, a date and cyclops, second time zone and 24 hr metal bezel

And you are wondering whether for some variety you should add:

A black dial with mercedes hands, circular indices, a date and cyclops, second time zone and 24 hr ceramic bezel (half blue).

And you would have to pay something like ten thousand dollars to get that 'enhancement' to your existing collection...

To me, that's silly. If you love the batman style: sure, get it, but you can then drop one of the others. Get a chronograph, get a dress watch, get something with a stunning dial, or simply save the proceeds of sale for some other piece along the line.

People who are proper WIS/ watch nerds (there are many here, and I mean it affectionately not disparagingly) will tell you the BLNR is totally different from any of the ones you have, and you should definitely get one to complement the others.

But it's not their $10k and I don't agree at all.
