Regarding The bodybuilder 5164

Just for information
5164 heft is 10.2mm
5167 heft is 8.1mm
1016 heft is 12.0mm

>> 5164 is a bit bulkier than a 5167 but c’mon a female bodybuilder is absolutely inappropriate

And here is a pic of my 12.0mm 1016 the heavy weight champ

The dial on the 5167 is too broad for 40mm, it feels a bit empty and too plain. The 5164 solved that problem with the local/home indicators and the date subdial. The hour pushers also make the 5164 much more balanced. IMHO the 5164 is the best daily watch out there..

64 is at a £6/7K premium in UK, US looks not far behind.

entry level anything has more potential upside since it already looks so similar to a more expensive one. More buyers at that level as well as the travel time is an expensive complication to add, if you dont want it.

a 64 use to cost more than a 5712... so thats part of the reason as you have more patek options and other watch options at 5164 prices. At 5167 prices you can buy a 5167. Doesnt make it a bad watch or a less desirable watch, but your available alternatives are less.

Dial too broad for a 40mm??? What a load rubbish. It's not like it's a plain dial either.
I assume you have one of those female bodybuilders as an every day watch?

its got a lot of empty space. I do like a dial with a bit more going on and im not a fan of date windows. A 5167 with a date display like a 5164 and nothing else changes, i would buy one even though its a bit thin for a rubber strap sports watch.

same reason i prefer the 5524 to a 5522... more going on without being cluttered.

Woah, that escalated quickly . Did you design the 5167? I'm just saying..that design belongs to the 5165/5065, there is too much space on the dial IMHO.

Yes i do have a 5164..and it's AWESOME!

I'm a very recent convert to a PP lover. But for me the 5167 is the one. Love the clean design and lack of sub-dials. Which is ironic since my daily wear is an Omega Speedmaster.

For retail price I rather have the two hottest watch (5167 & 126710 BLRO) instead of one watch 5164.....

And still have some leftover money for a nice vacation & dinner.....

i still prefer the 64, but yes thats what i was getting at earlier. There are a lot of options if you dont really want a travel time aquanaut. So its not like comparing white vs black daytona C's... one at retail and one at secondary prices then it might be, both at retail, no.

Stop going on about female bodybuilders. You're from Scotland where all the women look like your Dad.

It depends on your wrist size too. I'm a fan of thin (below 10mm) watches and clean 3 handers. Even the 5168g at 42mm is too big for me.

As for bodybuilders...fitness model bodybuilders are pretty hawt : )

I can pick up a 5164 from most dealers preowned around 32-33k the 5167 preowned is around $24k in the U.S. The 5167 premium is about $5k and the 5164 premium is right around $0ish. I think for new yes there should be an even bigger premium.

This forum has a ton of love for 5164 aquanauts, perhaps it needs to grow on me.

You keep saying this but I have never seen a 5164a listed for anywhere near MSRP from a gray or second hand. Sure the premium isn't as high as the 5167 but it's not insignificant either. But why does that really matter anyhow?

Agreed I will buy them hand over fist at 32k. Then I’ll sell them for thousands in profit quickly and easily.

As Tyler noted the reason the 67 enjoys more premium is it’s the lowest price sports Patek in the catalogue by far.

Again I’m a huge fan of both. 67 was a daily for me for a few years and now the 64 is my horse.

Have the 67' and really appreciate the 64'. I like a minimalist style in most things, apparently watches included.

maybe its because it looks like you are wearing a repurposed tire. Jeans with holes in them cost way more too and they look like some one gave them to the charity shop and you found them there. Recycling is in

If I were living somewhere safe then , I would definitely choose SS watch band over rubber band , however where I live isn’t always safe , hence I feel safer putting aquanaut on than SS Rolex or Patek

Hate the 5167... love the 5164.. is this normal !?

I’ve had opportunities to buy 5164a at 32-34 a few times in the past 6 Months. Lookup watchrecon too. They are listed at 35-37 and NIB is around 38. They don’t sell at those prices.

Again this is US market and maybe I got lucky and missed an opportunity to buy
