My new SD is frighteningly accurate... 2 weeks old tomorrow, and still spot on to the second.
It's definitely the most accurate mechanical watch I've ever owned

If I hadn't bought if from an AD, I'd swear it was a quartz powered fake

-6sec/day with very little variation. Still, it's just a month old so in another month or so I'll walk it to the RSC during a trip to NYC.

I'd like to add a small observation about Rolex's accuracy. I think the important thing to note is that although you can get roughly the same level of performance from other cheaper mechanical watch brands (and in some cases, maybe even better performance), a big plus point for me is that Rolex stays accurate over a long period of time. For instance, my TAG Heuer Aquaracer and Seiko Diver's watches were about as accurate as my Rolexes when they were new, but over the years, they've lost that edge and now run a bit fast. I have a friend who (stupidly, in my view) has not serviced his S/S Sub in 22 years (I kid you not) but incredibly, it still keeps near-perfect time - as good as on the day it was bought back in 1987.

Bottom line - Rolexes may not be 100% accurate all the time, but they'll be accurate for almost all daily practical uses and will consistently deliver a high level of accuracy over a very extended period of time.

Have to agree with you 100% but remember all Rolex movements are made to be chronometers.Others can be made to be with careful regulation, done several experiments over the years with the help of my watchmaker friend.A Alpha manual wind chrongrapth with the Seagull ST19 movement is one of my most accurate watches and cost just $60.But with careful regulation has been running well inside COSC for over two years, but has been re-regulated a few times in those two years

My GMTIIc is 2 seconds slow after a period of 3 days will continue to monitor. So far very satisfied with the accuracy...

GMT IIc

Watch is fully wound (40 times forward) then worn 15 hours straight every day for past 2 weeks since I bought it. Was running +2 to 3 seconds per day initially now (for past 4 days) -1 sec per day

COSC = -4/+6

According to COSC, my watch is definitely within standard. My question is if my -1 sec/day continues, does it mean I'll be losing 30secs in a month's time??????????? That's quite bad I think

Have tried the 6 positioning methods so far not much effect

Someone please enlighten

My Sub Date was +6.5 and because of that, and the fact that it was due for the "5 year" overhaul, I dropped it off yesterday for service.

Feels very strange to have a different watch on as, since getting it a year ago, that has been the only watch I've worn. I asked that when regulated they try and get it to around +2 or better so hoping that when it comes back, along with looking all clean and shiny, it is running somewhere in that accuracy range.

My 2-week old SD is -1s after 2 weeks. Now that really is spectacular, and far exceeds my expectations. Significantly more accurate than my 2-week old co-axial SMP. I am well chuffed to say the least.

I beg to differ, +4 or 5 would drive me up a wall! My brand new Sub and my 4 year old GMT II are both +1. I am totally pleased, but my last Sub was +3 and I was not happy.

The last time I checked mine for accuracy was over a 21-day period. During that time it lost a grand total of five seconds.

My sub date runs +5 a day and my air-king runs +1 a day so I sent my sub back to Rolex for regulation and it came back to me +6 a day so lets just say if you are under +7 a day to leave as is.

My Daytonas are -2 sec/day and my GV is about +1 sec/week. I also have a black Milgauss that I gave to my father - that one is +2 sec/day

It depends. One of mine gains every day. The other one keeps the most incredibly accurate time. They are mechanical, each has a heartbeat.

Mine is so accurate it scares me. I keep checking the online GMT time and I haven't lost or gained a second in 3 weeks. I don't even know how that is possible?!? But I'm not complaining.... :)

My mechanicals are all around a second a day as I observe the placement rule when they are not on my wrist.

My Omega with the Thermocompensated quartz movement is +5 seconds...A year!

I say that my SDDS is the most accurate timekeeper of all my rolex watches ( past and present ones ) I have been wearing it for over 15 days non stop now (just come back from holiday ) and I don't think it is out for more then about 5 to 10 seconds ( slow ) where my 116520 always looses about a minute in 15 d/20 d periode , my 16520 better with about 30 sec a month . Can't remember what the 16201 does , haven't really worn it for about 10 years .
