I once picked up a pair of fur lined EG Galways but eventually decided they didn't work for me and sold them. It may have worked well outside but indoors may have been a bit too warm. The fur was only located in the shaft of the boot anyway.

The thought of buying a pair of Vibergs got me thinking... will I be satisfied with them? I’ve paired back my collection to focus on fewer, higher-end shoes. Maybe I should just buy another pair of Galways. LOL!

Thing is with Vibergs your getting an entirely different style of boot. Vibergs are pretty much at the top when it comes to this style.

So speaking as a person who has a number of different styles and multiple pairs of Galways. It just depends on what your looking for.

I've seen these before, but prefer the split toes from G&G and EG more. In the end I went with Thorpes from G&G. For me the MH71 just works so well for that style of boot and for me. Besides the hand stitching on the apron is also very appealing.

Here's but one other option when considering this particular style when it comes to a work boot or fashion work boots as most people will call them. By the way they just happen to be on sale. However if you were to ask me which pair I would ultimately want it would be a pair of Vibergs.

I tend to prefer the shoemakers from England myself but I do have shoes and boots from a number of different shoemakers from all over the world to include Italy. These are just but one pair which where made in Italy.

I purchased them from Ryder Boot Co. They resell Italian made shoes and boots in the USA. I'm not sure I ever found out who the actual shoemaker was. But Ryder Boot Co has a great reputation for selling well made shoes and boots. I purchased one of the last pairs a specific retailer had and I have yet to see anything from Ryder Boot Co that comes even close to these.

These boots were purchased at the time I really wanted a pair of light colored or Walnut Cordovan boots which are typically hard to come by. Alden specifically but to be honest since looking at these and those offered by Viberg I would rather have something from those two than something from Alden.

It's actually Rider Boot Co. owned by Ron Rider. Popular shoe guy on the forums known for his enthusiasm for footwear and Italian made footwear. He's been in the game a while from what I know. I bought my first shell cordovan footwear from him back in 2010. He has some good preorder deals for shell models right now.

Yep, sorry typo on the name.

The Cordovan they used is by a tannery in Europe and not Horween. As such it tends to look a bit more glossy or slightly different than Cordovan from Horween. I forget the name of the tannery though.

I live very close to Northampton in the uk so I am spoilt for choice for good shoes my favourites are Jeffery west.

I live in the USA but my favorites are from Northampton and mostly from Edward Green and Gaziano and Girling. But most of them where purchased from Switzerland. Oh and by the way this Kudui looks nothing like that Kudu used on the boots previously.

Anyone have suggestions for laces?

The laces on my C&J islay and C&J Galway 2 have both broken down.

I could just stop by the C&J store in Manhattan but there have to be higher quality or even the same available online.

Laces are definitely a mixed bag. I have the original laces in my MTO Carminas still after 6 years. The laces in my GGs and Lobbs broke on the first use.

I think there is a golden opportunity for anyone starting a lace factory that can make laces that actually hold up.

Oh, the waxed laces you get with a pair of Vibergs are also great!

If you like that style you really would have a problem doing any better. However for that price have a look at Carmina, Alden, Alfred Sargent, and Enzo Bonafe as well.

Thanks Dan. I think I'm going to switch from the Chukkas and get the Service Boot from Viberg. I want something casual and these keep catching my eye.
