I too was torn, but in the end started with a white gold, then still craved the yellow gold. So YG was next. I felt it was a graduation of sorts, from white gold as my first pm then moved on to the YG as I felt I was ready for it. Have fun with this dilemma!

Rolex make the most vibrantly beautiful blue dials for me so it has to be this.

I'd love to get my hands on a 16718 the pre ceramic gold GMT. I love this though, it's everything a gold Rolex can be really. The whole thing is gold.

Tough one and assuming the OP was not referring to the DD of DJ, then I would have to go with the 116718 with green dial.

Followed very closely by the 116618 LB with blue sunburst dial.

It's tough for me, because I prefer white to yellow gold, but I wouldn't have an interest in a non-black bezel or dial. So...I say stick with steel. I can't think of any PM sport watches that I prefer to the steel versions, anyways.

IMHO if you're going to wear a sports Rolex it should be in stainless steel. Any other metal goes against the original intention that Rolex had for these watches; they were designed to be purpose built tools to be used while diving, racing, flying, etc. But if I had to pick a gold sports model it would probably be the Yacht Master, because to me that is like a dressed up Submariner and it makes sense to have one in a precious metal. But in all honesty, if you're going to buy a solid gold Rolex it should be a Day-Date President.

I think the GMT-Master II, Yachtmaster, or Daytona are more appropriate in precious metal. I never got my head wrapped around owning a diver in gold, though I fully concede Rolex offerings are gorgeous.

Either the YG Black Sub, the WG Meteorite Daytona or the YG Paul Newman Daytona.

If I was going for a yellow gold rolex at the moment it would be a gmt or Daytona. There id a niche of people who really like the DD36 and DD 40 so you need to decide if they are for you.
