Not with the steel I am currently using. Right now I am using a pretty mild steel, so it wouldn't really harden up all that much.

I plan on starting to use some higher quality steel soon, and getting to practice hardening and tempering.

This is so cool. I enjoy watching the show Forged in Fire where the guys make knives or other weapons from various pieces of metal. Keep up the hobby and we will see you on there.

So I made a thing today, a split cross out of a railroad spike. First time making it, made it for my wife's parents for christmas.
