Eleven James Experience
By now, I assume many of you have heard of Eleven James. If you haven't, check out a decent write up here http://www.forbes.com/sites/marcbabe...ts-experience/
Basically, Netflix for high end watches. Well, anyways, I signed up. Spoke with a real person about my tastes, collection and what I was looking to get out of the experience. First watch arrived today, what do you guys think? It's a little more "out there" than I normally go for, but hey, it's only for 2 months. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Interesting idea that has been expressed on TRF. My biggest concern would be the strap... could not bring myself to wear a strap that has been on someone else... perhaps its just me.

Strap doesnt bother me a bit but I do hope the return process is not vw coming off lease like and the collections as shown on the site are a weird head scratcher of why.

They claim (and my experience thus far seems to confirm) that they change out the straps each time the watches cycle. The watch is pretty obviously used, but the strap seemed new.
I'm curious to see what their inevitable 'store' looks like. Gotta be some killer deals for what will def be heavily used watches. |

Would be interesting to hear about your feedback on this service over a longer period. Perhaps you can report back later on to give an update on how its going.

I'll try and post an update each time I cycle a new watch with them. I'm curious as to what they "choose" for me, especially since I recently moved to a much smaller town that only has a rolex dealer, so no more window shopping for me!

Interesting to see they've got a dlc'd Milgauss there. Not a watch i'd want but am curious as to how that handles being rented out repeatedly

So for the CONNOISSEUR COLLECTION, you could spend $4250 over 3yrs and not own anything?

Fair enough, but if you're a rabid "swapper" like myself who ends up burning a few hundred dollars each time I trade around, it might end up with getting to try more variety for less money in the long haul

interesting idea
not my cup of tea, but I see your argument Jeepman. I am liquidating 1/2 my very modest collection and I am going to lose a bundle |

I don't see why someone would rent a high end watch. |

This might save a few people from buyer’s remorse. Try before you buy. If it were a little cheaper, I woUld do it.

I often wonder how these sort of ventures go - whether they enjoy long-term success or fold fairly quickly. There are the ones that swap luxury cars, works of art, etc.
Having noted the way people treat things they do not own (and also things they DO own) I would think there is a lot of upkeep involved.
