Is it safe to wear a Rolex Daytona in LA?

Hey guys,

I'm 18 years old from Brazil. I'm going to travel to Los Angeles in a few weeks to study and I was wondering what you guys think of wearing the iconic Rolex Daytona 116500ln. I will be most of the time in Santa Monica. Do you guys think is safe? Wearing a Rolex in Los Angeles is dangerous?

Since I live in Brazil, I almost don't wear my watches. When I travel is the only opportunity I have to wear it.

I would love to know what you guys think.

My instagram: dkm116500 (only my watches)

Thank you.

Super dangerous the second you step off the plane at lax lil pump n badbahhbie r gonna run you for your Daytona all the way down to your underwear. You won’t be able to walk the streets unless fully armed ....nobody I repeat nobody wears rolex in Los Angeles or Beverly Hills I’ve never ever ever seen one....so you can make your own judgment if you think it’s safe.

Like any big city be aware of your surroundings. Chances are you'll see many more high end watches in SM.

Yes, you can and should absolutely enjoy your Daytona while on vacation. I live in Santa Monica so if you have questions about anything while you’re out here, pm me.

i never get these threads. If you are going to get robbed you will get robbed. Phone or watch or wallet or jewelry, it doesn't matter. If its a real concern you probably shouldn't be there in the first place.

I just don't buy the argument that these crimes are anything more than crimes of opportunity wrong place/wrong time. Your other stuff is just a big of a target and i doubt a criminal targets someone and then says "nope not a nice enough watch, pass"

I wear my watches everywhere i go. If i get scared, i dont go as my watch is the least of my concerns.

why? Its not the automatic assumption when someone asks is it safe to take my watch to europe... and then a lot of people then say no, despite statistics hugely disputing that vs where they are coming from. Just curious.

Or is it first post, 18 y/o with a daytona?

Just a hunch it's a riff on just the types of "take my watch to" threads to which you refer. I appreciate OP's humor.

To be fair to the OP he does live in Brazil.

I roll my eyes to these threads usually but no way would I wear a Rolex in Rio for example, so maybe for him its a bit different to ask such a question.

May we assume, then, that the bad guys are too busy with the banks to go after 0P‘s Daytona?

I would not recommend going to those places no matter what you're wearing.

Santa Monica would be no problem though.

Actually, that is a serious question. Like I said, I live in Brazil and using a "nice watch" here is suicide. I had travelled several times to Florida and always felt safe there. I have never been to LA so I was just curious how it is.

thanks
