Back in 2009 certain family owned AD was struggling with cash flow, I was offered 30% off RG Nautilus on strap. I bought it and ask for further discount on Rolex and Bvlgari jewelry the following week.

I was told no on the jewelry but was offered 10% off SS GMT, 25% off YG DD, and 21% off RG Daytona. I got the RG Daytona and SS GMT.

I don’t see that happening again, at least not for another 3-6 months. The demand for Rolex has been propped much higher the last 2-3 years and I just don’t see the discount going past 25% on Rolex today.

PM pieces where NEVER 30-40% off ever. Even before the hype. Especially not a 228238 that's dreaming.

PM pieces wont be dropping as much as the hyped SS because they never grew as much except for like the green dial Daytona.

You'll be waiting for a long long time if your waiting for 30-40% off. LOL

30-40% off? Is someone looking at buying a PM Rolex or expired meat at Safeway?

People really think AD margins are that high

Are you being sarcastic or are you just trying to “will” prices for the pieces you want?

when will PM Daydate be 30 to 40 percent off at AD?

Everything is possible. Patience, stroke of luck, Rolex timepiece demand, circumstances of the ADs, etc. While historical precedence can be a good gauge of how Rolex prices would look post facto, I also wouldn’t want to limit that. In fact there is also that possibility of huge discounts even to the point of price dropping below initial cost, which may needed by some ADs due to the cash crunch.

I cannot see the future, any more than anybody else OP, but it would not surprise me if this post is looked at in four or five months with less surprise. I hope not, but there are some bad times around the corner in most parts of this wonderful world. All the stimulus being offered to SME's etc essentially gives the choice of going under or accumulating debt to survive. Either way there is pain ahead, for individuals, enterprises and for sure Rolex AD's. This could easily amount to a 'glut' from lack of demand, and pressure from the pre-owned market . You may get your discount in a few months, but I hope things don't get that bad........

When this happens, am sure you'll be able to get any timepiece you want.... briefly.

If you need that much off in order to purchase, maybe this timepiece isn’t for you. Try looking at some older models

I am hoping in August or Sept, Most of the experts are predicting hard crash of stocks to new lows from march 23 to 27th.

i would take even 25 percent off as most of you are saying even 30 is impossible.

Lower your expectations, as we have told you. 30% was NEVER possible. 25% was about the max, but you may be hard pressed to even achieve that. The DD40 is the flagship reference. These times are a different animal than 3 or 4 years ago before the whole Rolex demand went crazy.

AD margin is about 40% for a PM model but in some times they need CASH, cold hard CASH, and not a watch, so is better to sell with no profits at all.

And people keep saying the the whole Rolex demand went crazy, lol, I can see only flippers and grey markets buying this as true.

I missed good offer on CHRONO or here on rolex forums buy/sell 228239 for around 26.5 to 28k before the rolex price hike but the watch is single owner and a year old.

For a BNIB DD40 the max we ever could get was about 25% IF you were very very lucky and thats when watches werent "hot" on social media or anything like that.

Recently ADs were giving a big fat 0% to say a max of 5% on these watches. Even now with Covid-19 its too early for them to do fire sales.

Yes you could bargain a bit more (I dont think there are many ppl at all dropping $30k on a watch these days). Go try your luck and offer a price with 25% off and see how you go.

without actually knowing i would guess AD wholesale is 50% of msrp. even when a near 40% discount is offered on something, they are still making money. and yes i realize there is overhead

not sure when/if ever we'll see those discounts. pm watches like the skydweller seem to depreciate immediately after purchase so not sure what to make of it

30 percent is dealers new margin, fat chance...even grey sales are at barely a few k off new, maybe they dip back to the 27k-28k range if they feel the pain...I'd say maybe you hit 15 with an authorized dealer that REALLY needs to move one, but it won't be one of the the green dial models or likely rose at all. Btw, I'd LOVE a rose with green dial at 30 points off all day!
