great choice. beautiful watch

yours also use the fatter font Yacht-Master on the dial

later serials use a much slimmer and IMO washed out typeface...

only thing i don't like about the 16622 YM is the clasp. can't adjust when on the move

Great little review! I agree on all points Would also pick the YM over the 15300, but not over the 26300 or 26120.

I love my YM. Nice combination of sport and bling. Goes well with everything.

Still focused on the dials eh? I am finally done obsessing over the font type on my YM - took me a few days though

Hey Puffy, thanks! This is the second time someone's mentioned about the dial. Haven't seen the differences but I definitely love the dial on this model.

Definitely agree. This is basically the only watch I've ever owned that I never have to take off.

Which is the 26300/26120?

RO Chronograph and Dual Time, respectively. Look them up and let me know what you think.

I don't usually like chronographs but if I were to pick one, the Royal Oak would definitely be it. It looks HOT!

Still haven't used any other watch. I would take another watch out of the box, with the intention of wearing it, but would always end up putting the YM back on haha! It's only when I shower, sleep, play sports or go on motorcycle rides that I use a Gshock or don't wear a watch at all.

However, if I did have an AP, or some other grail, then I'd probably have a rotation of sorts.

Thanks, jared535! Pics could definitely be better. Only wish I could take stuff in the same standard as some of the folks here. Haha

Thanks guys!

I really love this watch. After years of collecting, it's almost like the journey ended. Haha! Of course, we all know how that goes. This time though, instead of running after the next big thing, I'm looking for a kind of suitable supporting cast for the YM. Haha

Thank you for this review. This watch is such a nice contrast to all the other Rolex styles. It's distinctive, subtle and classy, with a 'tech' look that the bright/dull bare metal bezel provides. Love the red sweep hand and the 'Yacht Master' logo. My next Rolex!

Thanks filfoster! I definitely agree with you. I think that because this is monochrome, they had to do more with the lines and textures of the watch to keep things interesting. The little red we see adds just the right hint of color.

Went to the AD's this week and drooled on the display case and tried one on, a ss/platinum 40mm. That was a mistake. The dealer was so accomodating with a generous discount and payment plan that I could not leave without leaving behind a downpayment and commitment to buy.
This watch really fascinates me.

Haha! I hear you. The YM was always out of reach for me so when I did get the deal I wanted, I grabbed the chance and never looked back.

Hi thanks, yup decided to withdraw it from the MP and keep it, it's on it's way to RSC for cleaning and maintenance.

Ah that's great. My watch definitely needs servicing, its 10 seconds fast. Before I didn't mind so much about accuracy since I rotate and set my watches when I use them, but now that its my main watch, it bugs me that I'm a minute off by the week's end. Haha

Nice review. Are you still happy with your choice? I have always liked this watch because it is so unique in the sports line. And........the Platinum of course.

Definitely happy! I wear it All the time. Only problem is its a bit of a scratch magnet haha! Usual for a daily wearer I suppose. I'm also getting a little concerned with scratching up the bezel.

Of course, it is a sports watch first and foremost so I won't let a few battle scars get to me. Haha!

After owning a Sub for 10years, I wanted a nicer Rolex. I got my Platty in 2007 and didnt realize how different the watches were. The polished rounded case and center links jump it into a very dressy watch. The bezel has bigger numbers and I am scared to knock it against anything. The red lettering is a nice contrast to a mix of shades of silver. Very nice watch and I get compliments whenever I wear it.

i also hope that they keep producing the midsize ym. i love the look of the watch but since i have a small wrist, the midsize version would work out alot better for me than the full size.
