I just watched 11 minutes of that video with that Paul dude. Once he went into his diatribe about how he is known for taking peoples ideas and running with it, i had to turn it off. He basically said his buddy Marco is simple minded and only he can take it to the finish line. How this twit thinks he is some brilliant mastermind with that dreadful idea is lost on me. When would falling off the face of the earth with peoples money go over well at all? I really dislike people like this. And Marco isn't any better if he supposedly came up with it.

Business must be somewhat good for AF to remain as dismissive as he appeared on the video. No sense of remorse. Just full steam ahead and FU to all the haters.
Also a bit puzzled as why the “partner” in the business is not in these aftermath videos trying to restore faith in “their” business?

Lol I watched the first like 10-20 mins as well… insane how defensive and in denial he is.. completely changed his tone from his apology video

But again… it’s not really surprising. What did anyone really expect?

He’s got some of his “personal collection” listed for sale on his insta story. I have my doubts about their cash flow.

The thing that bothered me about the Thorpe interview is how Paul helped Anthony finish his sentences when he was at a loss of words! Only good thing to come out of it was AC3 and Nico making peace. Also, AC3 getting made right by his whole fridge sponsorship Anthony failed on lol.

This annoyed me as well. Anthony would give some bizarre answer and Paul would clean it up and reinterpret it and Anthony would be like "yeah."

Paul sacrificed rep for a quick YT fix. Pathetic. Thought Anthony was a clown...turned out he was the whole circus.

I wholeheartedly agree. I enjoyed watching Paul Thorpe every so often. Now? I won't watch him again. I felt he was pandering to the "lunk" & don't really see why. There are plenty of good watch channels out there, I will not miss these two.

I'm not really into "watch culture" or whatever you want to call it but that Paul Thorpe guy comes across as the biggest douchebag.

Paul Thorpe lost me at that point, exacerbated by his recent statement that he is" back in business".

Just an update, Antony did not sell his RM to get a Nadal RM, but traded it back to the guys he bought it from. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LympnThE6X0&t=195s

So, it's all just an incestuous pool of "wholesalers" buying and selling from each other at wholesaler invite-only bazaars.

Pretty much. And I'm willing to bet virtually every time they "source" a watch from another dealer, they buy at retail, which becomes the new wholesale price and their new markup establishes the new retail.

It's a self licking ice cream cone that's ruining the values of current production watches. Discontinued models, limited stock? Sure, the market should set those prices based on availability. Current models are definitely readily available, as every major grey has them; there is no real shortage.

I generally like grey/used dealers, but I liked them better when they had used watches at reasonable prices. I'll be happy to see this cycle of greed & "hype" end.

Well said. The “hyped” watches are not rare at all. They are readily available from any Grey Market dealer. I don’t believe that most of the hyped models end up with the end consumer they are just traded and inflated amongst the greys. The greys use them as currency. “I’ll trade you a Daytona and Pepsi plus a little cash for an AP”

Uhm well yeah, it’s(IWJG) been like that for 30 plus years. Even our very own trusted dealers are often there. The only difference now is they are allowing the YouTubers to film inside for the world to see. Trust me, it’s like watching the sausage get made in the factory(you don’t want to see it).

In Roman Sharf's last Watches and Whiskey, they opined that something like 80% of the Richard Mille's listed on Chrono were all from people who knew where they could source one, and so many of the listings of any given model were all just the same watch being posted by multiple people. So you buy from one of these guys, they buy it from someone else who has their mark up on it and they sell it to you with their markup on top...

I wonder if Chrono has ever considered providing a "verification" service where they require watches that are of known limited quantities to confirm their serial number (kept private by Chrono, of course) in some way. That would then mean there would only be one listing, by the dealer who actually has the piece, rather than half a dozen from both the actual dealer and a bunch of others hoping to leech off of their piece.

Chrono24 has possession verification mechanic. Youll see on some listing a photo and its set to a certain time thats randomly chosen by chrono24.

Only for private sellers though. Dealers are not required to prove they own the piece I believe.

Remember when Anthony and Marco argued about the price of a green dial Daytona? $125 K?

The whole industry is a clown show now. None of the valuations mean anything anymore.
