I agree with you. It is not so expensive that he has to be so carefull but it is nice enough where it will teach him the responsibility of taking care of a nice watch. The different colors on the band and the dial make it look "cool" and the fact that it syncs to his iPhone gives it that cool factor as well.
I am so excited to give it to him. I have almost given it to him numerous times over the past few weeks. I guess one more day will not kill me.

My first decent watch ever was a Citizen Calibre 8700 white dial on black leather. Respect Citizen like no other I love it. I can relate to this post here very much.

It seems like a lot of guys who end up collecting watches when they get older started off with a citizen and them move up over the years. Like I said before, my prized watch is the one my parents gave me. To someone else, that watch isn't worth $200 but to me it is priceless.

Very nice watch.
I'm a fan of the Citizen Eco-Drive watches, too.

Here is a pic of him sporting his new watch after he opened it. He was so excited. I think it was exactly the watch he wanted which means he will wear it. I think I was more excited than he was but overall, it was a huge hit.

He did. I am very proud of him. I can't believe I actually have a teenager now. I swear time sure flies.
Thanks. I will take that as a compliment. He is a mature 13 and I guess I am a immature 33.

Its funny, my son got up today and still had his watch on. He came to me and asked if I wear my watch at night when I sleep. I of course told him I never take my watch off and asked why. He pointed to a place on his forhead where there was a imprint of the watch. He said that he slept with his head on his wrist and now he had two watches. LOL
His enthusiasm is great. he has been so excited since he got the watch and I am so glad that I was able to get it for him. Again, thank you guys for all the kind words ad warm wishes for me and my son

Thanks man. It is a cool app. Unfortunately I didn't read the instructions to well. This app and phone only work with a iPhone 4S or 5. My son has a 4. now I get to go upgrade his phone. More money out of my watch budget. Thanks my friend.

I feel bad for having missed that thread but I think the watch looks great Heath! It fits him very well and the fact that it's a gift surely adds a good sentimental value! Well done my friend, may your son wear this beauty in good health!

Thanks for the kind words. He hasnt taken the watch off since Christmas other than to take a shower. It definitely was the hit this year. The funny thing is that now he has started looking through my watch magazines and books and saying "I want one of those some day". I think I have him hooked.

Thanks, I didnt want to give a 13 year old a watch that was to expensive. I think it is a good starter watch for him to learn to be responsible and take care of it but still have some quality.

tats an awesome gift, and looks great on him..a very well thought out present and I actually think I could use that, keeping my phone silent in conferences so this could help :) oh, and you both look great with the green watches ;)
I SO want to start doing that with my nephews but they are still too young, though the elder plays around with my watches ;) here is him wearing a casio :) |

A little over a year ago, I had the distinct pleasure of giving my 40 year old Son his first Rolex. It was a Christmas/Birthday gift and also a reward for his efforts to manage staying employed in a very difficult employment environment. I gave him my 1 year old, black bezel, Sub "C". I did still own an older submariner bluesy that I wear and recently I acquired a Sub Hulk to make up for the loss.
Its a great feeling to be able to pass on something of value to those you love. I firmly believe I received more by giving the gift. |
