I agree with you. It is not so expensive that he has to be so carefull but it is nice enough where it will teach him the responsibility of taking care of a nice watch. The different colors on the band and the dial make it look "cool" and the fact that it syncs to his iPhone gives it that cool factor as well.
I am so excited to give it to him. I have almost given it to him numerous times over the past few weeks. I guess one more day will not kill me.

LOL. I can totally relate to this with a few gifts that I bought for my wife in the past.

Your son will be thrilled. It's definitely a very cool looking watch.

My first decent watch ever was a Citizen Calibre 8700 white dial on black leather. Respect Citizen like no other I love it. I can relate to this post here very much.

It seems like a lot of guys who end up collecting watches when they get older started off with a citizen and them move up over the years. Like I said before, my prized watch is the one my parents gave me. To someone else, that watch isn't worth $200 but to me it is priceless.

Very nice watch.

I'm a fan of the Citizen Eco-Drive watches, too.

Here is a pic of him sporting his new watch after he opened it. He was so excited. I think it was exactly the watch he wanted which means he will wear it. I think I was more excited than he was but overall, it was a huge hit.

He did. I am very proud of him. I can't believe I actually have a teenager now. I swear time sure flies.

Its funny, my son got up today and still had his watch on. He came to me and asked if I wear my watch at night when I sleep. I of course told him I never take my watch off and asked why. He pointed to a place on his forhead where there was a imprint of the watch. He said that he slept with his head on his wrist and now he had two watches. LOL
His enthusiasm is great. he has been so excited since he got the watch and I am so glad that I was able to get it for him.
Again, thank you guys for all the kind words ad warm wishes for me and my son

It has a double meaning to me because a citizen watch was the first watch I ever got as a kid. My parents gave it to me for my 15th birthday. I still have that watch and it is one of my prized possessions. It is cool to be giving him his first watch but it is even cooler to be giving the same brand I got when I was close to his age. Hopefully 25 years from now, this will be a watch he still has and will cherish as much as I do mine.
Merry Christmas everyone.
I still have the Seiko my parents gave me when I was 15 too. I just had it serviced for waaayyy more than it's worth because it means a lot to me. Judging by your son's smile it sure looks like he likes this watch. Even if he doesn't have it 20 years down the road, he's always going to remember the first nice watch you gave him.

Very cool story man. I have some pretty expensive watches in my collection and my citizen I got at 15 years old is by far my most prized possession. Thanks for the kind words my friend. I agree, it looks like he was excited and his face when he opened the box was priceless.

I agree. Having someone to share your passion with is always nice but having it be your son makes it that much cooler.

Thanks man. It is a cool app. Unfortunately I didn't read the instructions to well. This app and phone only work with a iPhone 4S or 5. My son has a 4. now I get to go upgrade his phone. More money out of my watch budget.

I feel bad for having missed that thread but I think the watch looks great Heath! It fits him very well and the fact that it's a gift surely adds a good sentimental value! Well done my friend, may your son wear this beauty in good health!

With all the new threads daily on this forum it is easy to miss one every once and a while.
Thanks for the kind words. He hasnt taken the watch off since Christmas other than to take a shower. It definitely was the hit this year.
The funny thing is that now he has started looking through my watch magazines and books and saying "I want one of those some day".
I think I have him hooked.

He doesn't really like the "old man" look about Rolex in general.
My first watch was a citizen and we were in the mall a few months back and he saw the advertisement for the citizen watch that links to your iPhone by Bluetooth. It will give a small vibration and let you know if your phone gets a text, email, or other notification. It is a good looking watch with a black face and green accents. I think it will suit him well for a first. It looks like something the teenagers would wear.
I am just excited that in this day of kids using there phones to check the time and not wearing watches at all that he requested to get a watch this year.
Here is a quick snapshot of the watch in the box. I will be sure to take some pics of it on Christmas Day when he has it on his wrist.

Very nice gift, and very sensible for a 13 year old. Good job...

Thanks, I didnt want to give a 13 year old a watch that was to expensive. I think it is a good starter watch for him to learn to be responsible and take care of it but still have some quality.

A little over a year ago, I had the distinct pleasure of giving my 40 year old Son his first Rolex. It was a Christmas/Birthday gift and also a reward for his efforts to manage staying employed in a very difficult employment environment. I gave him my 1 year old, black bezel, Sub "C". I did still own an older submariner bluesy that I wear and recently I acquired a Sub Hulk to make up for the loss.
Its a great feeling to be able to pass on something of value to those you love. I firmly believe I received more by giving the gift.

It is a very cool watch. I think it will come in handy for him as he plays sports and things. He doesn't realize it yet but now he will not be able to say he didnt know we text him because his watch will alert him.
Btw, your nephew is the cutest thing. I definitely think you have a future WIS on your hands. He looks awesome sporting your watch.

Thank you . . . we also have the option of treading off now and then. I'd like to acknowledge your gesture as well. I'm sure your Son appreciates it each time he looks at the watch.
