Here is one of my favorites - a 1985 GMT 16750, original, unpolished and a very complete set. It's been a safe queen for over a decade since my ownership; no wrist time but an occasional winding every now-and-then.

Such a shame/waste, J! Wear it and enjoy it - why not, it appears it's not NOS?

Wore this one for about 20 years every day working on aircraft. Sold it late last year and bought a 16710 so the crystal wouldn't scratch so easily. Still wear the newer one daily. Another forum member now owns the 1675 pictured. I'm just thrilled it made it to a good home.

The reason I chose Pepsi was that I liked it better than any other watch on the planet for my tastes and it looked like this the day I bought it in 96', already old. I just took good care of it to keep it as it was yet still get away with wearing it like a Timex. It helps being a tooled up watch repairman on the side.

I like my newer version but I have to admit I do miss the old one, especially that bezel.

Stunning watch and history!!
I am glad for you that it found a good home as well.
I would definitely ask for dibs which the new owner will probably extend courtesy for if he decides to sell in the future.
Granted you miss and want the watch back.

Be nice to get back a watch that has your history on it!

Congrats on your newer one though! Wear at best health.

Help for a first timer

Hi Everyone,

First post here - I'm considering acquiring my first Rolex, a K-series GMT Master II Pepsi. Over the last year I've been a member of a watch-rotational club called "Eleven James" where you basically get to try a number of watches over the course of the year from their collection (sort of like rent the runway for watches). It's a great way to "try before you buy" and get a sense of what you like and don't like.

I'm currently on my last rotation and have the GMT Master II K-series with a leather brand (which I honestly kind of prefer) and really like it, so inquired about purchasing it. They are quoting me a pretty good price of $5200 (factors in some discounts). There is also a very tiny chip in the crystal and they said they would have their service facility replace the crystal with an authentic Rolex crystal free of charge. One thing that perhaps is a red flag is that the watch is running fast - about +15 seconds/day - which is definitely faster than when I first received the watch. I'm sure I can ask them to take a look when I send it in and they will adjust, but I'm wondering if I should be concerned. There are no papers/boxes that come with the watch, but this is a legit company and I've been working with them for a year so I'm not too worried about authenticity.

Anyways I wanted to get the thoughts of the community here on general pricing and thoughts about the opportunity. Photos below

Thanks for taking care of this one for 20 years Tim. I hope to be able to care for her for another 20.

@ MrBlahBlah: The watch looks okay (others with better eyes will comment, I trust), but I would be concerned about a sudden +15 second daily gain. If it's a Rolex, then Rolex Service Center can fix (almost) anything. The question is: Would you be okay with paying out for a major service on top of the $5,200 if you had to? (Note: I am disregarding out of hand any service that Eleven James may offer to provide since I do not know them.)

Good luck.
