Well the way i look at it he sells a lot of watches, expensive ones too so he has a basic understanding of how they function etc , he would have been well aware the date didnt turn over and didnt disclose that in the discription. If he had disclosed it i can promise it would have affected the final sale price.

Well the way I look at it, you got it at a discount because he expressly sold it as is.
All the other bidders were aware of that, and there bids reflect that.

There are sellers that give a warranty with there watches. But expect to pay a premium.

Yes I would be surprised if he pays for a service.

Most likely a watchmaker will readily address the date rollover issue during a regular service at negligible incremental cost.

Lol. You’d have a hard time with that here in Canada. Courts don’t have time for frivolous things up here. That said, there’s no evidence that he’s a scammer. Probably just unscrupulous.

I am just referring to his atrocious offers for unsuspecting people who are selling them their watch. The poor guy who sold him the Paul Newman probably didn’t even get $1000.

It has already been mentioned above, that this seller's expertise appears to be somewhat limited, and that he also doesn't inspect watches very carefully. By eBay rules, you can always return a fake, but you should certainly perform your own due diligence.

Thanks. Do EBay’s rules have a price limit? They would enforce a $400k return, if it was fake? If yes, I wonder how much effort and money they would be willing to put into suing and getting the money back?

Got this is the mail today , looks like he has another mass buying setup :). I found out he has a website and his google reviews are horrible , set aside the fake reviews from friends and employees and its probably about a 1 star average. All sorts of accusations, fake watches, rigged scales, lying to sellers etc.

edit: Don't know why the photos turned sideways

It’s an interesting business model. I wonder if doing it this way allows him to skirt around the rules pawn shops have to follow (to help ensure items aren’t stolen).

I get these flyers in my mail 5 or more times a year. This setup is a total scam aimed at separating seniors who still think in terms of 1970's prices from their valuables. The people that go to these events are trying to get a few bucks to make next month's payment to assisted living providers (and the like).

It may not be illegal, but it is reprehensible. Pawn shops offer better prices than this charlatan, from what I can tell.

Looks like our sketchy friend is back again, fresh off a buying spree and with a totally new eBay name and some real nice watches for sale.
