5513 with new face and dial

hello i am considering a vintage 5513 submariner but it has a new dial and hands ..

doing this seems to remove the reason of owning vintage watch and make it much harder to resell

would it be better just to buy a brand new one for less money

thanks

No it would be better to find a proper vintage piece with original parts

What "brand new one" are you considering for less money? Opinions differ on watches with service parts like you describe. Collectors generally don't like them, but some people don't mind service parts on watches that they are just intending to wear regularly. However, it dramatically reduces the collectible value, so you would need to show us photos and tell us the asking price. Depending on the age of the watch, the value may be reduced by as much as half compared a 5513 with all original parts.

Just had a look at their website, lots of talk about investment and rarity in their descriptions. If the price was right it might be worth considering with a service dial, hand and insert. £13k is so over market price, have a look at Chrono 24 and see what else is available around and a bit above that amount, some nice Matt dials.

Personally I'd rather have the L Serial original dial etc gloss dial 5513 they are advertising but again at £14k that is well above where it should be, in the £9-10k range.

I'd look elsewhere at those prices

They are extremely overpriced.
