Due to increased demand of timepieces...

...instead of complaining about 'shortages', has anyone here thought about or started school to become a watchmaker?

Alas, my hands are not steady enough for such work :(

Nah. Just collecting other interesting brands. I can’t imagine the surgeon like steadiness one would require to mess with these tiny machines.

Been saying this for years. You can work until you’re sick of it as long as you like and for a trade, it’s inexpensive to learn and not hard on your body.

Bas, my Dutch friend, I am sorry to be brutally honest, but I just don’t think you could ever be a watchmaker….. You could always become a bartender.

I am a micro-surgeon and have dabbled in dial painting before for fun. Id happily work with a skilled watchmaker for a bespoke creation.

Old surgical saying: you can teach a monkey how to operate but teaching him when not to is the challenge. This monkey knows enough to not start this endeavor :)

I thought about it. If Bulova still had the school in NY I would. The closest one to me is in Lilitz PA. It's too far and will take too long for it to be reasonable for me. Oh well, I'll just have to stick to being waitlisted.

Maybe
But I have zero ambitions to start my own brand (or any company, even)

I'm too anti social to be a bartender, I'd better work on a ranch or something
