Normaly i would say yes but not for these Patek models. If you want to upgrade to something special in platinum and with complications you can take a look at the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph. Still a super bargain at 70/80K.

Don’t do it. And not for that Patek, although it’s beautiful.

I’d never do that, but I’ve never been a fan of perpetual calendars. So do what you want…

If you bought the two Rolex at list, then makes sense to take the profit and upgrade to Patek perpetual calendar. Especially when you are getting the Patek at a discount to list. However, there are many nicer looking perpetual calendars from Patek to choose from, that one is meh

I would definitely trade.
It's such a step up, Rolex is king of the high street brands and comparable to Omega but with better marketing.
Patek is exclusive hand finished haute horologie at it's finest, a watch on a totally different level.

This is my thinking. I genuinely cannot understand why that Perp Cal is so much cheaper grey than it retailed for. It’s beautiful, and Platinum and a grand complication. The cheapest PC from Patek these days is over £100k MSRP.

And to your point having owned an AP, I love my Rolex but this is another level. As they’re rare and still a grand complication I reckon there is huge long term appreciation in that reference and I’d still have 2 other Rolex to keep me in the brand.

I’ve reached out to some for sale and will see if I can grab a bargain. If I can I will try and keep hold of the DD and chop in something else or find the cash to put it into the PC.

I’m all over the place on this one.

Are you serious? I wouldn't make this trade in 1,000 years.
Your watches are so beautiful, you would regret this exchange forever.

I guess it’s that Patek make a tenth of the watches in a year that Rolex do at a maximum.

It’s the rolls Royce of watches and their signature movement. For me everyone who loves watches appreciated the level of craft in a watch from one of the big three.

I love Rolex, I will always own them, but Patek is another level for me.

That said, I’m not going to do a crappy deal and if at all possible will try and keep both!

I understand you. But I think the Patek will bore you at some point. Better wait another one/two years and buy the Patek (if you really want it) without giving away your beautiful Rolex watches.

If you want the PP 5496P, go for the later model with the applied gold accents. Far better-looking watch IMO due to the contrast. The first model is somewhat bland and may be why, it is so soft on the pre-owned market.

My opinion from a Patek and Rolex owner.

The "value" of a trade can only be determined by you, it can be different depending on models, availability etc...

As far as the watches are concerned, the Patek fit and finish on the case and movement is miles away from any Rolex.
If you can do it, go see the models you are interested in the flesh and make your decision from there.

You may also ask feedback from the Patek forum ;-)

Good luck

Thanks good advice… just need to find the Patek forum! Issue I have is that the PC is discontinued, so hard to see in person.

To get one, I’d have to trade the DD and the Sub… would you?

Keep both Rolexes, sell your car and buy a Fiat Panda. Pay cash for the Patek.

I’ve actually considered that… the M4 Comp is worth more than I paid for it and I drive it 6,000 a year!!

No way man! I’ve had a few PP and after awhile find them a bit boring.
