Help! Tritium fell out of 16570 minute hand.
hello all! longtime reader, first time poster in need of some expert opinions... unfortunately the tritium lume has fallen out of the minute hand of my '93 ref. 16570 Explorer II.
from what I've read, the loose tritium - which I'm assuming cannot be salvaged or replaced back into the hand - needs to be removed from inside the watch, and the movement cleaned + serviced (which it was time for anyway). I'd like to have the minute hand re-lumed and matched to the rest of the tritium in the watch, so my questions are: 1. who's the best person/company to service a "vintage" (or Neo-vintage, as the case may be) Rolex watch these days? mine is in otherwise all-original condition, and I'd like to send it to someone who will take care to keep it that way. so far I've looked at True Patina, Precision Horology, and Time Care Inc. - any others of great repute I should look into? 2. I've read some about having the original lume stabilized in older watches - is this common practice and something I should do to the rest of the hands as "maintenance" of an aging watch, or is this practice frowned upon? THANK YOU in advance for your advice and opinions! |

LAWW can service it and restore the lume.
