Fair discount

I am new to the Omega world (mainly a Rolex guy) and looking to purchase a classic speedy pro with hesalite. What is a fair discount from an AD for this piece?

I see them online with hefty discounts but I was curious what other forum member’s experiences were with ADs?

I realize at a boutique there isn’t a discount but they will throw in an extra strap/other swag and move you up the list on limited models.

I bought mine from a jewelry store who carries Omegas and got about 20% off. I’d say anywhere from 10-20% can be had.

I bought my sapphire sandwich in March at a Canadian AD for $7100 tax in. MSRP here is $7300, $8249 tax in. That took some work and is about 14% off.

It depends on the relationship with an AD but 10% should be the start of discussions and at 20% and a couple of NATO's I would be a buyer. Great watch but when you look at the secondary market even with those type of discounts it is not good. I would look to one of our Trusted Sellers, DavidSW, always has several on his site and he can access anything from Omega that is standard production for a good price. I have bought multiple Onega's from him this way. I would go slightly pre-owned and complete with box, papers and as much active warrant as possible. Great watch and good luck. I look forward to an incoming post.

Most I was ever offered off at the AD was 25%. They were doing some "friends and family sale" close to Christmas. Outside of that 15% was routinely offered and I'm sure they would go to 20% if nudged a little.

Wound up picking up a used model from a TRF TS and couldn't be happier

Search for one on Amazon. Several well known resellers are listing watches with Amazon prime delivery. Using an Amazon credit card will get you an additional 5% back in points to use on other Amazon purchases. Not trying to sound like an Amazon commercial; just suggesting it’s worth checking out.

Thanks for the responses! I was able to secure a fair discount at a local AD and will be picking up my Speedy Pro tomorrow.

This is my first ever Omega purchase and I’m quite impressed with the presentation. The box is cool, the loop and nato strap are awesome. I even will get a gold Apollo 11 anniversary pen.

I’ve never gotten any extras with Rolex purchases.

Congratulations! In part it depends on what type of warranty you're satisfied with. I was willing to pay more to avoid a 3rd party warranty through a grey dealer, and purchased from an AD abroad so that I had the full 5-year warranty. I was able to do a bit better than the lowest asking price from trusted sellers on TRF this way, including VAT refund and presenting the item to US CBP on my return home.

To be fair Jomashop and Amazon (in this case) are grey market dealers and the OP asked about discounts at an AD - where you will get a direct Omega warranty.

Do you mind sharing what kind of discount you received? I’m in a similar position and trying to gauge what the market looks like.

Fair discount

I was able to get 20% off retail but I am buying a Rolex as well so I’m sure that factored into their discount offer.

Authorizd dealers - 10 -25 lately, depending on relationship and perhaps competitive landscape in that area. Deals have started to dry up over the last year from what I've seen.

Boutique - very little to nothing. But usually some swag.

Grey Market - 20 -30% depending on model. Sometimes better.

I got 20% on a new Seamster 300m a couple weeks ago. I should have pushed for more.

I would want at least 25% from an AD for popular current Omega models.

In the last few weeks I couldn't get AD's to go off MSRP for a Speedy Pro if they even had one. They would for others but not "The one". I suppose they have been really popular lately due to the 50th Anniversary and discounts to move them have not been necessary. Sounds like you did ok though and got a deal you were good with.

I picked up the Wimbledon datejust, SS with white gold bezel. Makes a nice combo set for me.
