Rolex Submariner - Vietnam problem

Hi all, smashed my watch on a wall whilst trying to wash the dog and the bezel came off and no longer clicks or rotates.

Question; is it a bad idea to get this repaired by Rolex Vietnam? Do they send the watch off overseas for repair, or am i opening myself up to them stealing parts, adding to the bill etc etc.

Is there an alternative option? But I assume they will send it off to the nearest RSC, shouldn't be a problem. FYI I bought my sub from Rolex AD in Vietnam as well.

Vietnam - Rolex Repair

Hi all, can I trust the repair guys at the official Rolex dealer in Saigon? My sub has a bezel problem and could probably do with a service.

Bad idea here, will they fill it with fake parts?

How good is Rolex quality control in Vietnam?

Apologies; appear to have posted this twice.

The alternative is wait a while and take it in to Rolex in HK or Singapore. I just worry in Vietnam about theft of parts, or is that a ridiculous idea?

Do not send your watch to Rolex in Vietnam. They will steal the real parts and exchange for counterfeit parts. I lived in Vietnam for 15 years, and these are the facts.

Wow, Rolex really has variety in service levels.

You must have hit it very very hard as every Rolex is crashtested to 5,000 G. I hit my watch often pretty hard and nothing happens.

From Rolex.com

”Rolex watches have to pass more than 20 different drop tests before their launch. The most severe homologation test is the bélier, tellingly named after the ram. This exclusive shock-testing equipment submits the watch to an impact equivalent to 5,000 G – hundreds of times more than a car crash test. Yet the watch has to remain unharmed and fully functional afterwards, maintaining the highest real-life standards of accuracy and appearance befitting of a Rolex.”

BTW, I'm visiting Vietnam Halong Bay next month. Where could I find an official Rolex AD in that area? Rolex website doesn't allow me to search for AD location in other countries.....

Thanks very much!

LOL - this has to be a troll.

Rolex would never let this happen. That would cause irreversible damage to their brand.

Not necessarily. I have lived in HCMC for 5 years and you often hear of these stories.

Recently there was news of a LV bag bought at LV Vietnam that when taken to LV Hong Kong for repair was declared counterfeit and destroyed with scissors on the spot. Bag cost $3k in Vietnam.

My watch could easily be swapped out for a fake, and I would have no legal ground to stand on.

The bezel housing and black insert came off, and some parts were lost. Catch it at the right angle and it will snap off.

Are you absolutely sure you have original Rolex? I dont want to offend in any way, i have just never heard Rolex, especially Sub, to break like that unless it has been in serious accident.

Is it a ceramic or non ceramic bezel sub? Im guessing a non ceramic as it probably would have shattered if it was a ceramic. You say it "no longer clicks or rotates", does this mean you tried pressing the parts back on?

That story is at least partially false. No Louis Vuitton store in Hong Kong would take scissors to someone's personal property. If they were confident that an item was inauthentic, all they would do is refuse to repair it.

I think RSC Saigon is your best bet and as safe as any Rolex AD in Vietnam.

On 4 and 5 digit subs its quite easy to pop the bezel off and take the insert out. A hard smack against a wall would do that.

Also easy also to pop the bezel off a 6 digit sub. The insert not so easy, however

Well it's a human factor. Although unlikely, there isn't anything to prove that the employees won't change out parts in order to sell the originals to a third party. An RSC should be safe, anything else like an AD could be a game of roulette. There is a reason why some fake Rolex have a mix of genuine parts, not all of them came from dismantled stolen watches. China is another place I would be hesitant about.
