when patina is too good to be true
There's an online seller selling vintage rolexes and every one i see has perfect patina.
Question is...could this patina be added on with "brush paint" or other methods? Is the a way to tell if they are natural? I havent bought from the seller yet because seriously ...i have not believed in those patina yet. |

I think I know who you mean, and what's even more curious is that those with patina have virtually the same shade of patina.

Would be curious to see these watches. I'm fairly new to Rolex but have a great love for vintage watches. I hadn't even thought about this when looking at watches before, would hate to be duped.

I think what seller you are talking about - but; you should name the seller. That is more honest - and leaves all the other sellers out of suspicion.

Geez... here we go again.
"Is the a way to tell if they are natural?" Yes, do some proper research, and make an informed decision. If you 'don't believe it', don't buy it - simple. |

Share with the forum if you have resources to identify natural patina. Since you are so tuned in.

would benefit us all to name the seller and provide a link to see, otherwise what is the point of this thread?

This is an old topic and seems to get revived every few years.
Seller is from Hong Kong and everyone knows that the patina has been altered and the cases have been refinished. Once you know that, you can then decide to pay the premium or pass. Most experienced buyers pass, but he's still around so he must be be selling them to someone.. |

I remember his rant on here a few months ago. Won't be long before someone alerts him of this thread as well and he spits the dummy again. |

can you please point me to the mentioned thread - if necessary via pm.
Thanks! I'm unable to dig that particular thread out but a resident forum member brought his authenticity into question and 'No Buy' reacted with a whole new username and account . Last edited by The_Walrus; 22 February 2015 at 09:11 AM.. |

Are the cases also really sharp with incredible lugs that all seem to have survived the years unscathed?
