came across this today

Lovely piece year 1976. Looked in good condition for the year. Thinking off pulling the trigger next week at £14k. Comes with box and papers. Just the one shot I'm afraid

Looks wrecked to me. 14k hell of a lot for a watch in that condition.

Maybe the picture doesn't do it justice.

It looks like it has got plastic wrapping on it.

Btw...... 14k seems a bit excessive

Looks fairly "honest" to me, and it'll look nice once the crystal is cleaned up. Price might be a tad high but I guess that's because of the papers.

Price seems in-line for the UK. Plexi GMT prices have gone NUTS (as with all GMTs I guess) so I don’t think this one is far off base for current pricing climate. Personally, I think it looks pretty nice for what I can see. You need to look at the lugs/CGs for signs of excessive polishing. I just can’t tell from the one picture.

If it is shrink-wrapped, that will save you a step......you can just wear it with the plastic still on it. No need to get plastic put on it after purchase or a ceramic coating to protect your investment.

(In case you couldn’t tell, those last couple sentences were dripping with sarcasm)

I’d pass on that. Why not buy the newest GMT Master II? That watch looks pretty battered.

The newest one doesn't look anything like it. It's a 43 year old used piece with box and papers. Probably should have gone to the vintage section as most here will tell him it's a POS.

Not a lovely piece for 1976.

Not in good condition for the year.

Pull the trigger and give it one shot.

The price is too high.

Pass and keep searching there are nice ones out there.

OP, in the future, come to the vintage forum w inquiries about vintage pieces. You’ll get plenty of worthwhile, insightful opinions and information from members here who know what they’re talking about when it comes to vintage.

$20K .... not worth it - box/papers do help, but still that's above the current market. Though, you should provide better photos.

Could be the picture, but the lugs do not look good at all.

Really?? To me the lugs, as well as the crown guards, look pretty great. If I'm not mistaken, the top lugs appear to show some chamfers

looks like there's no brushing at all on the tops of the lugs. Like I said though it could just be the picture quality.

I'm with Andy, the case looks to be very well preserved with what appears to be a well defined chamfer on the left side. This is very similar to my own 1675 which has a broad left chamfer and an almost non-existing chamfer on the right side. Pictures can be very deceiving but based on the image presented here I'd say this watch is in very nice vintage condition, perhaps an aftermarket crystal but a nice looking piece I'd be happy to own.

ps thats a really crappy image..

I say get some more pics, I don't hate this deal. You're paying full retail but not insane full retail ($18.1k today). Can't tell by the pic but this could be some polywatch away from an honest original full set. I'll take a stab and say HQ Milton would have this piece for more.

OP get more pics and include the papers/extras.
