I was in the US Army stationed in Germany in August 1991. My unit had just returned from Op Desert Storm. When communism collapsed we were free to travel across the border into what was then Czechoslovakia. I have a vivid memory of driving next to a tank trail in Czechoslovakia and looking at Russian T-72 tanks driving next me. That was shortly before they left Czechoslovakia. It was surreal for me because shortly before that, they were my sworn enemy.

I shoulda worn this today:
