Ups and downs

Many years ago (1983) I had another dream watch. It was the first edition of the Corum Admiral’s Cup. I even believe it was a quartz watch back then. The design was so different from other watches then that I thought it was the greatest watch I’d ever seen. A few years later I woke up from that dream and was appalled by the apparent tacky looks of the watch. SS and gold, engravings and a bracelet with too many links and frills. But even in those days it was more expensive then a Sub. To my amazement, the watch still exists, be it different from that first edition. It comes in various materials and even as a chronograph. And it sports an automatic and COSC certified movement (smells like ETA). It even has a crown locking mechanism ‘borrowed’ from Panerai that I don’t like. And the nightmare has been chased again. It’s not my dream watch anymore but I do like the SS version without the chronograph. Do you have a similar experience with a certain type of watch?

Nope. Ever since I knew what a Rolex Sub was, it's what I wanted. Good story though.
