Vintage Sub in GQ

The New GQ magazine came to my office and the first thing I noticed was the vintage Sub David Beckham was wearing on the cover. It looks to be gold to me. Perhaps someone with a better eye can chime in with a reference number?

Looks like a 1680/8 with a nipple Dial to me,I'm not feeling the NATO though.

Ya, it does look like a nipple dial. I don't know how I feel about the nato. I do think it looks pretty cool to see a gold sub look a little rugged. Pretty unique.

Sweet watch. I'd be scared to death that oversized zipped would scratch the 18k case. Ouch. What some people will do for "fashion."

I don't think he's concerned at all. He can buy these by the dozen if he chooses to. Unfortunate if he in fact does not respect it but I don't know the man to be able to say for sure.

Then of course it may be borrowed for the shoot and not even his.

Hah. That image is actually my own personal nightmare, in itself.

It may be a 16618 but the dial is not from a 16618 as it has white text. Looks like a franken to me with a 16800 or 16610 dial

Totally agree with you... I think it looks great with the gold case & patina

So what's the consensus on the reference? It looks like a 16808 nipple to me.

Definitely not a nipple dial. Both the 1680/8 and 16808 have gold applied crowns - this clearly has a white printed crown.
