Is it just me, or does the print and the lume look ridiculously white?
Does not look gilt at all to me and lume lacks any patina.

Does Christie's offer any guaranty of authenticity or evidence of authentication? Just wondering.

I don't think so.

Stefano Mazzariol's blog has a reference of this rare double-red printing here.

This is one of his pics in the page (hope I'm not breaking any rules here):

The watch looks legitimate and bears the correct serial number for this rare early variant of GMT. The dial appears to have lost basically all of its radium luminous matter, and the white you are seeing is the paint of the dial marker plot that is typically beneath the luminous material. The radium seen in this particular variant of dial typically has aged a very unattractive olive green/grey shade, so it is possible someone removed the lume in a bid to improve the dial's overall appearance. The hands appear non-original, later Rolex.

Christie's standard terms and conditions for purchase will apply, which terms do include a limited guarantee of authorship with respect to certain (but not all) statements made in an item's description.

@ mdw3: Great post. Thank you.

Now that you mention it, the hands do, indeed, look like a replacement set from a later period.
