Incoming 5712G

I have always loved the 5712. The 1a was my first Patek, bought it many years ago to celebrate a round birthday when both 11 and 12 were easy to get at ADs or Patek salons.

Although I like all Nautis, the original jumbo sized ones have my preference, thin and with a perfect footprint on my 16.75cm wrist. The 5980, 5990 and 5726 are great watches, but just a tad big for me. The dressy and sporty look of 5711, 12 and 40 is just perfect imo. Works with suit and jeans.

Just got the 5712G, and I have been positively surprised. Really love it. Perfect heft, and an amazing dial. The tone on tone grey is just mesmerising. And very different from my other Nautis, first one on a strap.

Thanks gents. My PP collection isn’t only modern Nautilus, also includes some vintage (3700, 5065), and some other modern pieces like 5960 1a and 5524G (which I am selling as too big for me).

very nice Nautilus collection...it would be fun to see the 3700 next to the 5711.

Will post the picture next week. I don‘t have the 3700 at home, it is in my bank safe.

In this price environment, it’s mind boggling how much money is just sitting there in that watch roll!

Here some pics. 3700 is even thinner than 5711, probably due to the closed case back.

How does the 5712/1a wear compared to the 5712g on strap? Also which do you prefer?

It definitely feels more dressy with the strap, and also a bit more top heavy. But overall the weight difference is minor. The 5740 is clearly much heavier and for me a bit less comfortable than the 12G or 12A.

What I like most is the combination of the grey silver with the grey dial. Really beautiful.

Will wear the 12G more to work and the 12A more casually. Both great watches. 12G definitely underrated in my opinion.

Wow! those are some great Nautilus gems you have there. Thank you for taking the time to post those pics side by side. The close ups under the same light make it fun to be able to compare them. Great collection....enjoy!

I'm going to go back to counting down my release from the 5711 AD waitlist...I think I am getting very close, I only have 1460 days to go!
