Its an amazing watch! Size, shape, dial are all awesome. If I didn't have my D-Blue I would have kept my SD43, but they share the same bezel so it was redundant feeling for me. As an addition to a collection, it's a great choice.

Love mine. Love the cyclop. I think the cyclop IS the essence that is Rolex. 7.25 inches wrist and it feels terrific. Need to take out diver extension.

Love this reference...my GRAIL with my 7.875" (20cm) wrist that I will have soon.

I paid 1/2 deposit on 30 July to Houston Boutique AD (my folks' AD; I am in the smaller market of Idaho and my AD said 8-12 mo wait), and Houston quoted probable mid October delivery. SA indicated I was third on the list and said they were receiving at rate of 1/month currently...I was skeptical with all the posts on TRF about wait lists and times, deposits and the like.

AD called yesterday, on day 50 (seems fitting, right?) saying watch arrived, so I booked tickets to fly down to Houston. I will pick up the watch on Monday and could not be more thrilled! Pics on Monday

I have had this model about a month. I love the watch. I sold my 2012 Sub/date to obtain this watch. No looking back. This is my 7th Rolex, & I have saved the best for last. I have a 7 1/4" wrist & the fit & feel is perfect. If they do discontinue the red script, as they have done in the past, it will make it that more valuable.

i do have to say the DSSD has the SD 43 on the clasp. I vastly prefer the sea dweller but not really a fan of the glide lock on it.

SD clasp would be great if the DSSD clasp didn't exist... but it does

how do you feel about the ss sd43 ?

It is a very special watch:

- 50 anniversary;

- red line;

- the first SD with the cyclop;

- the first SD with 43 mm case;

Love mine and it feels comfy on my 7’ wrist.

It is a slight heavier watch but the fit and comfort on the wrist is excellent, the proportions are just right, and the red text is the cherry on top.
I like the cyclope on the date window and since the watch is bigger than a sub the cyclope is not that intrusive as the dial is bigger. In my opinion, it is the best SD produced ever. Also the dial is kind of special as it can look dark Matt grey under certain light conditions and also pitch black. I have not seen this in any other rolex model.
I would recommend it.

I fully agree with everything posted. That dial is what really did it for me. It has become my everyday watch for last 4-5 weeks.

I got the call from my AD for one on Friday, so went and got it yesterday. Wore it all weekend and am very pleased with it. My other 40mm references have shrunk in comparison, it’s the man size sub and fits larger wrists perfectly.

Right? It’s like having the bigger kielbasa size schmeckle when everyone else has the cocktail weenie.

I found the small caseback and low crown uncomfortable compared to the deepsea. Just felt annoying.

Just an amazing watch! Beautiful, robust, that red line is perfect...
And even though I do not have a thick wrist, the size is great.

Mostly for weekends and vacation though. I do not wear it when I have a suit on.

As for the cyclop, it fits well there and means « Yes, we can »!

The things I personally don't like about SD43:
-case size, 43mm just a little bit too big.
-the cyclops, I fell in love with the SD partly because of it not having a cyclops.
What I personally do like:
-the red text is a great looking detail.
-the new movement and because of that the longer power reserve.

100% my thoughts! Major disappointment after having the DSSD clasp, actually nearly a deal-breaker! Rolex cut back on the clasp.

Love it. I have 7.25 inch wrist. I love the weight and the presence. It makes my bluesy and Hulk feel light and non existent.

I got a call just yesterday that my SD 43 is in and ready for collection.
Can't wait to get it on monday.
I was never into the SD 43 as I had thought it would be a long long wait for it but the Manager at my local Rolex boutique promised me he could do me a surprise before Christmas. I said OK, let me try it. When I put it on my wrist with the sub side by side the SD-43 eclipsed the sub completely. The proportions, at least to me are just wonderful. The extra 2 mm width of the bracelet is and the extra 3 mm on the dial give the watch a breathtaking presence on the wrist "mine is 6.75" I just couldn't help not to order it.
PS: Without a Cyclopes I would not buy this model. To me a Cyclopes is a must have feature, love it.

I didn’t vote as while I am not a fan of the aesthetics of this watch, that does not mean it’s not a fantastic piece. Just not my taste. I totally get someone wearing this with pride.

I have one but I don't wear it. The watch is very nice in every ways, but to me it's a little to "flashy" and "shinny", it's like wearing an oversize Rolex. I like to be a little more subtle, for me a 40mm Rolex watch is better. However it is surprisingly comfortable.

Of my Rolex collection, it comes down to what these 54 year old eyes can see without issue. The SD43, the 40 DD Presidential (white gold) and the 116509 Daytona with the black racing dial are without question the easiest for me to see without having to put my readers on or make sure there’s enough light. (For those younger people, just wait.) I have 6 Daytona’s in my collection of various years and makes and combos. Although it is still annoying not to have a date complication on the Daytona, I do love it. The 116509 with the black racing dial is by far the easiest for me to see ‘normal’ and in my humble opinion, kicks butt.
The three watches mentioned are my go to rotation as of late. The rest went to the bank vault and eventually the grandkids (just hope I’m still here when they are old enough to aquire them and appreciate them).

Mine is the most worn watch in my rotation and I love the cyclops because I can see the date without squinting as with my D-Blue.
