5167 stainless vs rubber

This may be a stupid question but I randomly found a dealer that had a 5167 in stainless at an AD near me I’m picking up tomorrow. I inquired about the rubber strap and understand that with the clasp can run as much as another 2500. So I’d be 23.3 with tax + another 2.5 or 25.8k all in. I assume there no arb to buy the rubber 5167 then get stainless bracelet, but that would put the stainless bracelet at 6-7k. Not the end of the world either way but random question I figured I’d check.

I’ll have to post pics of the watch tomorrow my first Patek and am pumped.

Congrats on the upcoming watch. I prefer the 5167 on the rubber strap, which would also save you about $2K + tax. Additionally, I wouldn't buy a 5167 at a local store without some type of discount.

Yeah I prefer the stainless but was looking into adding the rubber and he wasn’t budging on the price together to give a break.. Maybe was stupid not to ask for a discount but I had called 15-20 dealers and nobody had anything (or if they did they didn’t say). And whether or not he had other buyers lined up or not who knows. What kind of discount do you think is reasonable?

Fees like it was harder leverage wise with the first Patek but curious to get others thoughts.

I would not fret over paying msrp. I received a 10% discount on mine but that was 3 years ago in a much different market. Congratulations

Unless you have a solid relationship with the AD, this can be a Tough part of year to get discounts on SS due to holiday shopping and dealer willing to sit betting on someone paying full price.

Congrats on the pickup, look forward to the pics

Congrats. Wear and enjoy.

I prefer the rubber, as it has a nice flow with the dial, but that's something you can always add down the line in summer. Great pick up.

Doubt you can get a discount now even in US, in UK this is £4K over retail and rising.

Imo that is your answer. I would not get too hung up on discount though. The 5167 retains value very well and it wouldn't if discounts were the norm. Congrats on finding one

Congrats bro and I prefer the rubber also. The SS bracelet is very nice too but the rubber shows better the real character of the 5167 imho...

How much did you pay for the rubber strap if you don’t mind me asking? In the same boat.

I got the bracelet one, too, about four years ago. It grows on you. We’re also used to seeing the watch with the rubber strap. It was designed to have the rubber strap. Paul McCartney has the one with the rubber strap. Etc.

The bracelet has a nice heft to it. The way it is polished and brushed is relatively uncommon and done with great care.

Just so you know. When I was in the Caribbean this past June there is a boutique that had the watch you purchased as well as a Batman BLNR. So there are moments in time when uncommon items are available. But I wouldn’t sweat paying at retail for something like this.

The bottom line: here’s when you’re going to be upset. When you see that first unexpected scratch. No matter how small. No matter where it is located. And you go, “argggh.”

I do not understand your question but I do not believe you are complaining about paying retail as so many have stated.

I just picked up the bracelet version and simply ordered the rubber strap at the point of sale. I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised by the bracelet and how nice it looks/feels. I still prefer the sportiness that the rubber offers.

What are you folks paying for the rubber strap? And I’m assuming you also have to get the deployant clasp too, right?

Not that I can get these things anytime soon. I just paid for my Speedytuesday?!

I think he said around $1500 for the rubber and deployment clasp but I haven’t paid yet. Will let you know when it comes in.

I've got mine on the bracelet and outside of a Royal Oak it is the most comfortable I have ever worn. The craftsmanship is amazing and it feels like silk in the hand and around the wrist.

MSRP on just the strap is $400 IIRC see if they’ll throw in an extra.

Are the lugs and hole placements identical between these 2 versions?

I haven’t heard any issues switching the 5167 from stainless to rubber so I assume so but would defer to the experts here. And I’d like to post pics of the watch from phone, but seems only way to do it is a computer.

Yes there’s no problem going back and forth. Not like a Rolex PM Daytona etc

Price in Singapore is SGD 1500 for clasp and 220 for black strap. From Patek Service Center.
