Logically, that makes sense. Since the used Rolex market involves very little logic, however, the 3135 movement watches would somehow trade at a premium.

While I hope this is the case, the one argument against this is that the UK has not had adequate supply for over a year and even after a price rise last Nov, so there is still a question mark over whether Rolex are planning all this or they have production or other issues that have caused this long lasting low supply. And if new movements were introduced it would probably be on one model at a time and not a few of them, so again doesn't explain why SS production seems to have halted on most models.

Would love to see the Sub ceramic with red texting. That would be perfection to me.

Those are very good points. Honestly, none of Rolex’s decisions are making sense to me these days haha. The situation in the UK is by far the most puzzling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Was randomly flipping through the patent posted a few pages back and couldn't help but realize that I've never seen this face before. Also, I've never seen a Rolex which "displays either the local time or the time in the second time zone, under actuation by a push-button"

3135 may be updated in 2018.
Maybe we see slimmer Milgauss and Exp2?

Lack of 3135 sport models may indicated the current lineup be updated with 3235. But we know Rolex take their time to update one specific model at a time.

I think that Rolex proved with the DeepSea Challenge that they can turn around a watch in 5 months, from design to production (obviously it wasn't a mass produced piece) but they can do it.
I also think, as others have said Rolex Sports models are thin on the ground so it could make perfect sense that they are slowing production of them with the 3135 movement to release them with the updated 3235 after Basel 2018! From the evolution of the newer 6 digit cases one of the first was the GMT-Master (10 years Ago) so I think that a re-release of the Root Beer 116713 could be highly likely.

However, with the GMT and the SkyDweller being as popular as they are, it would seem to be ill-advised to offer another multiple time zone piece. Or, maybe not.

My AD said this too, but explained it better. He said the regional Rolex guy looks at his non-sport sales when determining how many sport models to send him. The ADs that sell the most undesirable watches get more of the easy money as an incentive. Still makes you wonder shy they don't just discontinue the unpopular models though.

I doubt either of these suggestions will become reality, but thought I'd at least put it out there:
1. Daytona with the date 2. Cellini in stainless steel. Now, I feel better. : ) Happy New Year! Scott |

A Daytona with a date would be interesting. I wonder if that would be considered heretical at Rolex? Date windows on classics seem to evenly split the watch community.

ok its my turn to predict , i think based on rolex past instagram posts that there will be change on the gmt master ii and the submariner and i say this because there is not a single post of them not in any metal since the last basel , the second prediction will post it on february because what i relised is that they give a little history lesson one month before the release of the next big thing , they did it with the daytona 2016 and sea dweller 2017 .... i might be soooo wrong

-Platinum Sub <3
-obviously the new movement will find its way to the sub. -No way they will make a red sub, it will be just like the SD43 and we are back to square one (SD4k) |

Why would they put a ceramic bezel on the milgauss. It’s got a relatively thin stainless steel bezel now without any numbers on it. I’m not sure how this would work or what advantages it would give.

The Submariner had a 50th but not a 60th anniversary model release. The Seadweller recently had a 50th anniversary model release. The GMT however is the odd one out as it has never had an anniversary model release for either its 50th or 60th years. Why then would you think Rolex would randomly celebrate 65 years of the GMT??? I'll never be a sub customer but feel a platinum sub would pretty much kill the 'tool watch' business that's bandied about once and for all. It's a watch you buy because of the way it looks and wears, and the dive-y-ness it projects. "Dive watches" are now computers, and they're a damn sight better at it. A sub in titanium? Well, you're definitely back in the name game, but it's still only a 'tool-ish' watch. I remember the nascent introduction of titanium racing bike frames. Guys who could weld that stuff (some were Russian expats from their defense industry) made big bucks. I'm sure the tech has matured but it's a strange metal to work with. Couldn't begin to guess the price but you'd probably have a couple of years to save up so that's a minor annoyance...
