Agreed - though I don’t see myself picking up either.

The 1983 reissue also appeals to me, but I don’t need another ROO in my collection, so will likely pass

With the RD#2 are you going by the stamping on the case back in the pic?

Ask as other then the part under ‘New in 2018’ I can’t find it in the collection or any further details!

yes. The case back says Pt950 Im assuming the bracelet is all Pt too as the Ti-Pt combo has a Ti case and Pt bezel.

Its not listed with the other new watches yet with a full description, which is odd. Its the only one I want more info on, go figure. LE is my guess.

out of all the releases, the current vampire owners are the ones who are going to be pretty mad. Its the exact same watch with a ceramic bezel. With the other ceramic at least its a different watch.

Im all for ceramic bezels as an option, but that hardly qualifies as a "new watch". I like it though.

I doubt they will swap bezels if you currently own one. It wouldn't suprise me if they did the same thing to the others and released them in ceramic, actually surprised it was not the elephant and was the vampire instead. Thats a better looking watch to begin with IMO.

Judging by the RD#1 (minute repeater) example, AP announced it in Nov 2014 with virtually no info. They continued to work on it and released it in 2016 as the "Supersonnerie". So I think we might see a similar waiting process for the RD#2?

didn't know that. Good point

If thats the case this watch is going to be astronomically expensive.

To be fair, they did come up with an ultra-thin Perpetual Calendar in Pt ( world's thinnest ) but that's about it. And I am quite sure it will also be ultra-expensive. Most disappointing for me is the no-show for the long promised in-house chrono movement.

id be curious to see how this plays out. Their best offerings are way, way up the price ladder. Paying RM money anyway, i wonder how many will just buy a RM?
Their new RO 44 torubillons and the ROO 44mm torubillons are quite nice. The ROO is growing on me i must admit. For that money I would buy a RM, no question.

The PC is the only one w/o that same crossover appeal though, and that is very well done.

Could be that AP is gradually shifting it's market focus towards the higher end, ie those that can easily spend 6-digit-figures on a single watch ( and pay boutique price without discount ) where they compete with buyers of RM and PP Grand Complications. Entry level buyers may have to be contended with the same recycled watch design with only different colors and materials.

Finally 42mm with ceramic bezel. I love them. That was the main reason I got rid of my elephant and went back to the 44mm. Love the the 42mm size

I ordered 15202ip last month. Price less than usd40,000. 250 pieces (2018 =150 pieces and 2019 =100 pieces)

Should get the watch around Q1 orQ2 this year.

In truth I can't see what else AP can really do on the RO and ROO range at the lower level other than cosmetic and material changes, as the designs are very distinctive and any major change will be move away from the iconic look. Putting ceramic on the 42s is a major progression for the 42s, altho no inhouse is poor. Was expecting it last year really.

Maybe they can release a brand new model altogether but I think AP know they are principally a RO/ROO firm and the Millenary and JA lines etc are already very secondary.

The RD#2 is a one-off, non-production model.

i doubt it. Premium yes, but double retail? Im a huge 15202 fan and LE or not i would buy the SS over the Ti/Pt. Its similar and not an upgrade. They already restrict supply on the ss 15202 so it might as well be limited.

As much I love the smoked dial, mirror effect polishing of the bezel is not my thing....

exactly and most will think that way. The new one is still beautiful but its not a hard choice on which one to buy if you are only getting one or the other

The frosted gold RO 41mm is a LE of 200 and barely selling at a premium. The 15202IP will be similar IMO.

15403IP - a 15400 with the Ti/Pt setup is also limited to 200 and not selling at a premium. I've seen them in stock at a few ADs in HK. I've also seen the frosted gold in stock at the main HK boutique.

The premium talk is overstated. It doesnt make any of the watches less desirable based on merit. I just dont think they are profit generating flip watches. Plus AP has released a lot of LE watches recently. Sort of devalues the concept of LE.

I think this model is actually selling poorly. My local AD got one sitting in their store for months. At almost 2X the price of 15400ST silver and sharing the same dial, its no surprise.
