Thoughts on Rolex 1680 Red Sub dial
Hello all,
I'd love some thoughts on the dial of this red sub. It has some damage but I think it adds some decent character. I'm in the market for this watch but would love some additional opinions. The watch is for sale by Tourneau, so any other general thoughts are welcomed. Thanks very much, j |

Run....don't walk.
They say the condition of your second red sub is the most important. Usually you are just glad to get your first. Then you see the issues and shortfalls of your first watch....then you sell at a loss and buy what you should have gotten right away. |

Dial is shot, because it's a leaker. Check out corrosion under the crystal at damaged
area. Not to mention the missing lume on the minute hand and off colored second hand. |

...and because it's being sold by Tourneau, I'm guessing the price is way above what you should be paying for it (issues considered)...my opinion is to wait for a better one.

And by the way, the bezel insert is not original to this watch; probably a service replacement that will cost you another $1500-$2000 to sort out...

Pass. I would wait for next opportunity (better dial). Also, Tourmeau is not where you want to buy your vintage Rolex from.

Thanks for the comments all. Very helpful and emphatically a no. I am going to see it in person tomorrow but based on your feedback, will not be purchasing. The search continues...
