WOS Scam
Has anyone else been contacted by individuals purporting to be WOS offering hot watches?
Be careful guys and girls as it appears to be a clever scam. |

This happens often. Especially with trusted sellers you've dealt with in the past. It happened to me just last week with a very reputable Trusted Seller I've bought from on TRF.
I always email the actual/real seller's email based on our past email exchanges and send them the information about the email address and scam. Usually, it's from a gmail account and it can sometimes be taken down if a request is put in. It also gives the trusted seller a heads up it's happening so they can be aware and let people know in the Watch Out section here. |

I have been contacted by 2 separate people on the phone who say they work at a certain branch of WOS and confirmed to me that I am a customer, which is true.
They confirmed to me my phone number and my e-mail address and told me that WOS were expecting a large delivery soon in preparation for their stores re-opening on 12th April and asked me to update my Wish List of watches I would like. I was suspicious but as they were not asking for personal details of mine (as they had them) I told them which watches I would like in an ideal world. I was of course dubious from the outset as when does an AD phone you to ask how they can help! I was then sent WhatsApp messages saying that the delivery was coming soon. After about 10 days I was told that certain watches were expected and would I like them. They weren't hot hot models but they got my interest. Long story short, I phoned the AD directly and asked to speak to the people who had phoned me. Upon mentioning one of their names I was transferred to the Mgr who had knowledge of this scam as others had reported it. Personally, I can only presume that WOS have been hacked as these 2 people had all my details. Lucky escape for me and I'm sure others will be conned. |

I get an email once a year from a DSW or Takuya impersonating gmail account, telling me they don’t normally do this but a personal friend of there’s wants to move a 116520 in mint condition for cheap. Normally would be (let’s say) $25k but if I wanted it I could have it for $14k.
Clearly BS to me but hopefully others aren’t susceptible to that nonsense. Always contact your dealers (AD or Grey) by the emails and phone numbers you’ve always used and/or the ones they put on their listings and websites. |

Sounds like dodgy staff working in AD sifting info for a sucker list.
Only suggesting if they have info on the client. I'm grateful for the heads up on this as this was my AD on my most recent purchase. Service was superb and very accommodating to my little whims. |

For those not from UK - Watches of Switzerland Group (WoS) is the largest Rolex chain retailer in UK. They operate under their own name and other subsidiaries (Goldsmiths and Mappin & Webb). I imagine they collectively have domination over the Rolex market here. My personal view is that they offer 1st class service.
Thank you Matty for alerting us to this scam. I shall be on my guard. |
