Try selling to one of the Trusted Sellers on TRF. Generally very reasonable on price and it removes the hassle and potential risk of having to deal with people who may be scammers, tyre kickers, dreamers, etc.
I did a trade with a TS and was easily able to pack the watches I was selling and send them off to the US using FedEx. My watches arrived within a few days. The next day, the TS sent me the watch I was buying and FedEx delivered within a few days. I had to wire some cash to make up the balance, but it was one of the easiest deals I've done on TRF. I was a bit wary of sending the watches off, but it was a straight forward process. Feel free to DM me if you need further details. You're better off selling into the bigger, deeper, secondary market in the US. Quote:

This shows how bad it is now, Rolex store doesn't want you to even go into to the store to ask about SS models. Possibly losing pm sales by doing this, but they probably calculated that 99% of daily customer walk ins are for ss models. I moved onto other brands a year ago, maybe this will motivate more to move on.

@pete26 that oris is fantastic. hard to imagine they need to discount it. maybe a side effect of rolex myopia - people missing out on the good stuff done by other brands.
@iluvsubs (so do i!) - i've wondered about this but never done it. i think you're onto something. i will pm you. ta |

Hahaha - none of them are paying GST. Trust me they arent. Hence why their profits are even higher. They will try to tell you that that as a sales tactic as well (i.e) they will say something like well if you add the GST etc....
I know all their tricks. Dealt with all of them and being friends and members of many watch clubs and O/S gray dealers they tell me all their secrets about how they get pieces in. |

Thought that I would try out my luck and walked into JFP, Kennedy (Martin Place) and Swiss Concept last week to check out for any SS.
Ho hum - all dry as a bone and didn’t even have waiting lists (anymore). Ironically a gray in the city has a new 116610LV proudly on display - for $25k. |

They could also be raided: https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/...20-p4zspk.html As explained by someone above. Not sure how they get watches in, but they must be declaring the watches as second hand goods and half the value, therefore pocketing half of the GST that was supposed to be paid upon sale of the watch. Lucrative in the long run....Could also get slapped with jail time and fine if not done "right". |

^ Yes that is one reason why that mob in Bondi got raided but those guys where the worst they were selling iced out fakes etc.....and some other dodgy stuff they were doing.
I know some grays very very well dealt with them many times I know exactly how all this works. They make a killing telling the customer all bullcrap. |

Well I contacted an AD, The Hourglass in Brisbane and they had an OP in stock so I bought it. Sold the Oris and now to one watch.
They got it in a week before. Best customer service experience I have ever had. Sent from my SM-J120ZN using Tapatalk |

Unless you want to pay double MSRP for an SS Professional & in demand model, then forget buying in Sydney,

Thanks for the advice regarding the Facebook AWBSS group.
It seems to me that this may be a part solution for Australian buyers/sellers - at least in regard to pre-owned Rolex (and other quality brands). As others have said, GST and the poor exchange rate mitigate against simply buying from the TS on TRF. In view of this, the absence of AD stock, and the very high re-seller prices, I was beginning to think that I would not be getting any more Rolex. I also have friends with 'in-demand' pieces that they may wish to sell in the future, so maybe AWBSS could be the answer.

Hey team,
I came here to post the same thing as the OP did as I was in Sydney over the weekend. Sad cases and one big case had a complete cover over it. There was nothing but less desirable ladies 31’s in stock. I’ve been to 4 AD’s in the past 2 weeks and all have asked how and where I found my DJ41 and my girlfriends DJ36 (blue). It literally looked like these stores were robbed. Back home in Vancouver, Canada there is a lot more selection. Not the subs of course but you can still walk in and have a choice between a couple watches. The Rolex business model is confusing to me at the moment as it probably is for all of us. The fundamentals of business are to create demand and sell product. However, not fulfilling demand with products of this caliber would result in hundreds of millions or perhaps billions in revenue. My personal thoughts are it has something to do with the amount of fakes and the grey market. Although, shortening supply could increase demand on the grey market it would choke their supply year over year. Back home I am able to see brand new watches being sold on Craigslist and photos of the actual jewellery store they bought from back home literally days prior.. If this watch was never sold it would never hit the online grey market. To me I find this strategy odd but perhaps it’s their only choice. |

So how do you tell the difference between a grey market seller, a trusted seller on here or say a seller elsewhere on the internet? It could easily be the same person in different guises.

Just visited Hour Glass, Swiss Concept, Kennedy’s Martin Place and JFP.
Nada. Saw someone trying on a TT root beer GMT at Hour Glass. Not sure if it was a waitlisted or just lucky |

Should put an end to this thread, we all know Australia is useless when it comes to any in demand SS models. No surprise really when the Asian countries are only a handful of hours away from us.

The manager from my Melbourne AD visits the AWBSS forum on a regular basis. He has stopped selling to a couple of flippers, already.

Kennedy? LOL
One of the worst and their watchmaker will try charge you $200+ to size a bracelet. GTF out of here. Any other shop will either do it for free or for like $10-15. |
