5980 1R or 5270P

here are two watches with very similar market value (but very different list prices), namely the nautilus 5980 1R and the PCC 5270P. as i said, very different list prices but if you have to pay market value for the 5980 1R you will run into very similar expenses.
so here is my question: which of the two would you rather own? just ignore for a moment what you already have in your collection, just try to look at both watches and ask yourself what your preference would be, if you could only own one of them.

Easy one for me - 5270p. For me it wins in terms of aesthetics and complications. Though not disclosed, the 5270p shd be rarer and more exclusive too.

And it has the special salmon...

As a first PP I'd probably pick up the Nautilus but think I'd sell it later for the 5270.

A perfect daily, dressy or causal. And it doesn’t have the bezel that scratches when you breath on it. Let alone the complications and the movement on the 5270. Not even close, IMO.

5980/1R for me. Tried the 5270P few times but not for me.

How are you finding the 5980/1R compared to 5980R. I am thinking of adding a 5980R before it gets retired next year

I like the 5270P as it is a very good-looking watch, the 5980/1R not so much IMO. For an all-gold Nautilus I'd want a 5711/1J w blue dial... and hope TS is listening...

i have only had the 1R for a few days but as of now i prefer the R. it is more wearable, doesn't look like a million dollar watch and has the nicer more playful dial. the 1R is more serene, however for a full RG watch nothing beats the 5711R.

The 5270 is the WAAAAAAYYYY nicer watch.
The design, the functionality, the balance and platinum. It's leagues ahead.

Think is, I just don't like salmon dials....

This Nautilus silliness will come to an end you know...

I imagine in the not too distant future, we will look back on this time period and be utterly amazed that these two watches could ever have similar market values.

FWIW, I always vote for whatever NY2LA posts a picture of, as it always sways me! Although in this case, I had already decided.

5980/1R. Don't feel like having to wind the watch everyday.

Don't think I could turn down a 5270P over any watch.

Winding the 5270p — It’s a calming and “romantic” part of my bustling and hectic morning. It provides me with a respite. Pulling the watch to my ear, listening to the gears as they wind ever so smoothly - the connection with a manual wind PCC is one of the aspects I love most about the watch.

Something about Patel perpetual chronographs which makes them very special, so I would opt for the 5270P.

I agree here. I never went for the 5711/R because of the brown dial.

Where did you get the blue strap and what shade is it? Very beautiful on any watch.

I own the 5980 and turned down the 5270...but there was a massive price delta in what I paid for the 5980R and the 5270P...if same price 5270 wins

Amazing that they are trading for the same $

5270p, sadly too large for me. Oh, and the price tag but never mind that
