Latest from my AD

I dropped In today to say hello. The only steel watch he had was the Air King. He told me he can’t even order a Datejust 41 now. They are now allocation only. I ordered a blue dial in February and it took about 2 months. He doesn’t expect any steel 41’s this year. I’m waiting on a polar Explorer. He has received one this year (February). Crazy times in the Rolex hunt.

You know it's rough times ahead when datejusts are on waiting lists now

I am thinking remaining allocations are set for the rest of this year and I suspect not too much incoming from here.

I passed my AD yesterday and made eye contact with my SA and he waves me in. He tells me he has something nice coming in if I'm interested!
I have a decent purchase history but I'm not a VIP but I'm excited nonetheless.
Turns out it's a DJ II, rhodium with roman numerals. Beautiful watch but I only need one DJ in my collection. But my point is that this is the state of Rolex now. Sounds like SS DJ doesn't make it out to the case anymore....

I was told the same thing last weekend about the DJ41. I wasn’t sure if he was serious...with so many different variations how would you ever get what you want?

I was in my AD on Sunday and was told the same regarding the DJ41SS models. Good thing I'm in the market for a Seamaster instead.

My AD in the UK has no SS Rolex of any sort in the window, or in the display cases. I was told on Monday that they simply don't advertise Rolex sports models anymore & they no longer add customers to waiting lists unless they had an extremely large purchase history.

Funny how some of us mentioned this a couple weeks ago and many were quick to call BS! Crazy market we’re in now.

Just asked my very large AD friend & he said they only have 2 41 SS DJ in all their many cases. Said they are receiving an incredibly lot less.

Extremely large purchase history? So, they only sell to flippers and gray dealers?

Had the exact same conversation Saturday. Was told only 36mm is available for order rest of 2019.

What I don’t understand is how production is supposedly up, there are less ADs, yet every AD claims they are getting less watches. How is this physically possible?

That's a good point. Around a year ago, I saw a tourist purchasing a Blue Sky Dweller, Black Daytona, and a Submariner LV at Ben Bridge. He was in a room and I could only make out the SD, but my SA who sold it to him later told me what the other two were. Anyway, I asked my SA how he was able to get him all that in one shipment, and my SA said that this whale has spent over $500K in the past year and around $1.2 over the last few years.

So I commented, "so he's flipping watches". Not that it matters, but the client was Japanese. My SA is Japanese. I'm Japanese. But my SA replied that he purchases a lot of PM and non sport models as well.

My thoughts also. I was considering a DJ41 given my seemingly infinite BLRO wait, but it looks like that hope has been quashed too...ha! Feel sorry for new regular non-VIP buyers....just a terrible state of affairs. I guess just enjoy whatever you already have. ADs however see this as the best of times. I can't even be bothered stepping into an AD anymore due to the negative customer experience. So it goes. Cheers!

You can get a 2019 explorer polar for 8300 right now.

The DJ’s will be just like the other SS models...tucked away in the safe. I recently visited an AD and the SA after hearing my interest in a particular reference turned to her manager asking whether any had arrived that day- I doubted her sincerity from then on. She then told me to wait while they bring something out of the safe...cue anticipation.,.it was a blue dial SS Yacht master with platinum bezel. Not what I wanted

In my experience the staff fully knows what is coming in. At Ben Bridge anyway.

I got the distinct impression that she was asking her manager ‘will you want to sell the watch we have out back to him’ and I should be grateful to purchase the watch they showed me instead. No thanks

The day I go on a wait list for a date just is the day I melt down all my watches for scrap metal

Just got back from picking up Rolex mag. #8. They had a blue dial and a black dial DJ41 on oyster bracelet, really nice watch!

Pretty much the same story I heard from two local AD’s. That’s why I opted to just dispense with the AD uncertainty and craziness and buy the exact DJ41 I was looking for from DavidSW.

A little bit ago I bought a 116710LN from my AD. Shortly after, they announced it was being discontinued. My latest purchase (about 2 months ago) was a DJ41. That’s now going to allocation only. I think my AD is going to start questioning whether I have some sort of inside information ...

It’s all so tiresome. I’ve actually gotten bored with Rolex in part because of this issue.
