Do I have a 3700 or a 3800
So long story short I was just given a really nice Patek , however I am not sure what I got if it is a 3700 or a 3800 ... it is going to service next week since it has not been used in about 10 years and I will find out then , but the curiosity is killing me .... what is everyone’s opinion

Well the 3700 and 3800 are different sizes and the photo shows no seconds hand...

That looks like a 3700 to me. No second hand and size looks too large for a 3800.

Thank you for the responses , it runs fine and keeps time , however it’s going to the dealer in Houston this week for service . Hopefully they don’t bend me over too bad on service on a 40 y/o watch .... regardless it is completely worth it and I am 100 percent stoked to wear it when it comes back .

Not familiar with Patek vintage service will they ask you before proceeding with any work or replacement parts?

If I have that 3700......
I would fly to NY and drop it off in person @ The Henri Stern Watch Agency, Inc.....

That is a 3700 and your dad is a hero. I traded my TT 3700 for his steel about 16 years ago and eventually traded it away for other apps. Never let that one go!! And more pics please!!! By the way...your dad just handed you 100k++

FYI on service. The watch will go through you AD to HSWA in NY and then to Patek in Geneva for service. Once in Geneva, you will need to pay $500 (non refundable ) for an estimate of repair.
Auto/Date service of the movement should run about $2200 and take 32-36 weeks. That is on top of the 4-6 weeks to get the estimate. Be prepared to be without your watch for nearly 1 year. |

funny thing is I told my dad that it was 20-30 when I saw it, and offered to pay him for it ... he said I could have it but not to sell it (I would never , no matter the dollar amount it has sentimental value ) Called him and told him it was worth 75-110 when I dropped it for service , he said I could still keep it. So happy times |

I wonder if you could source some matching hands; that's the only flaw : )

Congrats!
Agree, have Patek do it and wait about 6 months (sigh) for their 'service'. So why can't Patek get it down to a normal 8 to 12 week time frame by now? That is such a simple timepiece really. Not a complicated repeater with tourbillon or Sky-Moon, etc.

Congats, and nice to see this being passed down from father to son. Have you got the cork box as well?
Ps the best way to attach photos is with the Tapatalk app. Less messing about with photo sizes. |
