Looking for a 5712/1A, any hope at all

Is there any AD anyone would recommend to try calling about this piece?

Been casually looking at them since prices were reasonable, but now the secondary market has gone mad.

Willing to wait, just not sure who to contact.

Thanks and cheers!

If you need an AD connection, you will never own it at MSRP unfortunately. That ship sailed years ago. Far too many Patek clients want the 5711/5712. If you buy another patek to start the relationship, that’s the only shot. It’s number one on my list, but it’s never going to happen.

Unfortunately, unless you already have a very good relationship with an AD, MSRP 5712 is a no go I'm afraid.

I won't say it is impossible, but very close to it. Even though you're willing to wait, the production is so low and the demand is so high that you'll probably be waiting forever.

Yeah, pretty much what everyone said. Average wait for 5712/1A is around 10 years and ADs are not taking any names for lists. You are going to have to establish a relationship in form on spending $$$ (a lot of $$$$) with AD. Or if you have a very close friend/family who is a Patek AD and would be wiling to prioritize you in front of other existing high spend clients. You will need six figure spend to be considered for one. As others noted, demand is super crazy right now.

I'm not aware any AD willing put anyone on waiting list. Even you do find AD as others stated wait list 10+ yrs. Life is too short....

Ask yourself which AD would give you 50k in cash for no reason?

No point in asking a bunch of thirsty people in the desert for water... LOL

If I wanted to try my luck I'd visit some smaller ADs, which is what I did when the large chains where I live didn't want my business. Going in person puts you ahead of all those who call or email. Not hopeful it will get you anywhere but at least you tried. The experience may help in making the call on going grey.

Nope, no hope. Zip, zero, zilch, nada, none.
Unless, of course, you are willing to spend $1M on Pateks with an AD, and even then I would want to get it in writing or, better yet, receive them all as a bundle.

With 5711 discontinued and rumors of 5712 being next. Even if you are already on the waitlist with an AD which you have a good relationship, I would think that it can be risky. And to be added to the list assuming you can get on one, it is doubtful you will ever see one even with an honest AD.

If you really want it, just buy it on the secondary market and pay the premium. Otherwise spend a few hundred thousand $$$ on jewelry or other watches and see if the AD will bundle it with your other purchase.

Yes - buy it secondary market.

Otherwise - find a Patek AD in an obscure location, fly there, buy tens of thousands in old inventory, and hope they get an allocation that you can get. Chances are slim and you will spend more time and money going this route.

Not sure if tens of thousands would work. Probably a couple of 100ks will be more likely.

I’ve been waiting for one since 2016 from my AD with a great purchase history. I did get the opportunity and purchased these PP, but still no SS Nautilus opportunities , they know how badly I want any SS Nautilus

These have turned, much like the Hulk, from unloved outliers to lusted after darlings so are very hard to get now without contacts.

Definitely hundreds of thousands for sure!

ADs are going to assume that if a new person is looking for a SS Nautilus or Aquanaut, the person is going to flip the watch. Even if I were an AD owner, I would assume the same thing.

You’ll need to start by buying a Perpetual calendar at full boat bare minimum. You’ll also need the be dealing with the owner or decision maker.

I’m told Patek churns out a lot of 5712 relative to 5711 so it’s an easier pursuit but you’ll likely need to spend 100-150k first depending where you live. You can then unload those watches and arrive in a similar spot to buying grey.

If you can land it by buying 1 PC you’ll be in net positive territory relative to grey. 2 PC and you might as well go grey.

1% chance to get a 5712 without an extensive history with an AD.

So you’re saying there’s a chance?

1% is too optimistic. I doubt 1 out of 100 people without any purchase history would get a 5712 simply by walking into the AD at any given day.

OP, did you want a diamond bezel or just a plain one? Seeing plenty of them online for sale. That's where to get one fast and easy.

If anyone had an inkling of knowing how to acquire a Nautilus with no purchase history or even purchase history, information like that would not be shared.

And its not even being selfish. Realistically everyone wants that watch.
