Nautilus from London Salon

Hey all

Hope you're having nice days.

I have read a lot of posts on here with interest and decided to finally sign up.

Read a lot of threads on here suggesting that in most cases for sports steel watches, the grey market is the best way to acquire the piece(s) you want without unnecessary spend to just get on a waiting list.

I visited the London Salon, probably about 18 months ago now, and spoke at length with a lovely sales associate about watches and my love for PP in particular, with the Nautilus being a grail piece for me. My wife was also interested in a piece and he put our names down on the register.

He was able to get my wifes piece within 6 months which she is really enjoying and I am waiting patiently for the Nautilus.

For obvious reasons, they aren't providing any timelines or guarantees but I have to say I really trust my SA and think he'll come through with it, even if it is not imminent.

I just thought it was interesting as the suggestion on here seems to be that it is nion impossible. Perhaps I was lucky in the time I went as the hype just seems to be growing. Funnily enough, he did mention during our conversation that a lot of their enquiries now are just casual people walking into the boutique and asking for the sports models they've seen on Instagram and TikTok

In life anything is possible! How possible it is, that’s a different question.

London Salon has some nice staff and it is a pleasure to visit that Salon. I would rate the London Salon slightly higher than the Geneva Salon and a lot higher than the Paris Salon in terms of friendliness.

They often have on display some higher end watches like the 5204, 5370, celestial, etc. that you can try on as well.

Best of luck with your Nautilus wait list

I would actually have to disagree with that. London salon is incomparable to the Geneva Salon both in terms of friendliness and in terms of watches you can try on (Geneva is the only one which has a sample of every model).

I think we can agree that everyone has different experiences at the 3 Salons.

It is true that you can try on all the pieces at the Geneva Salon, although most of them do not have the real movment inside. It would be nice if the London and Paris Salons also had these non-functioning pieces.

Having said that, my experience visiting the Geneva Salon has been varied. Several times, I went on my own and the interaction with the SA has been ok, but nothing special. I attribute it to a language barrier where the SAs are speaking their non-native language to communicate and their communication is somewhat limited. Perhaps I should have said a few things in French to break the ice. When I visited with my AD along with 20 other collectors during a factory your, it was totally different. They laid out the red carpet and took us to a special room on the 3rd or 4th floor and allowed us to try on and see all the high complication watches including the MRs. They went out of their way to make the visit special.

As for the London Salon, I have visited them probably a half a dozen times and it has always been pleasant. The two people I have worked with at the London Salon (one SA and another a manager) are originally not from the UK, so English is their second language. However they spoke English perfectly and probably better than most people from the US or the UK. Their demeanor was not just professional, but they were both very knowledgeable about each watch, the movements and details of the dial/case, etc. I suppose if someone just came in and wanted a Nautilus and knew nothing of the brand, then it wouldn't matter.

As for the Paris Salon, that is a story for a different thread. All I can say is it is too bad Wempe Paris lost their Patek AD license and Paris Salon is the only Patek point of sale in France.

Ok fair enough, I can see the language barrier in Geneva potentially having an impact and I am also probably biased being from Geneva myself.

On Paris we certainly do agree…

Hey, I just assumed with any ADs they'd not even consider putting me on any lists unless I had or built up a significant spend so thought the salon would be the best way to go.

I did the same with AP and managed to get a 15202 that way too.

Rolexes (aside from a RG YM) I've always tended to buy grey.

Funny I've been offered that piece for my wife a few times, it's way easier to acquire than the "mens" version. Its gorgeous tho and enjoy but I don't believe it's any indicator of getting another nautilus any sooner unfortunately

It’s “nigh on”, not “nion”. Just saying. I do love a good phonetic spelling attempt. Laudable.

But it’s impossible, all the same.

Congrats to your wife!

I visited the Geneva Salon back in 2019. The SA was very kind and let me try on what I wanted. He also took me up to their special room, spoke about the history of the building, and showed me the view across the lake ... and some minute repeaters and a Grandmaster Chime. A great experience all around.

But they were clear that any hard-to-get stuff will go to locals and existing high-end customers from around the globe rather than a bloke flying in from Munich for the day to try on a few sports watches for looks and fit before getting on the list at his AD.

So I am a little surprised that the London Salon caters to non-locals from the North...

I would say everything is smoke and mirrors until the piece is in your hands and credit card swiped

Geneva always told me to deal with my local boutique first...
I go there sometimes around skiing trips but feels more like going to the museum ;-)

let us know when you get what you're after, I have purchase history with them and was after a nautilus, fair play to them as they told next to no chance?
