Another great watch (had one), but I disagree. The Pelagos and DSSD each represent the largest dive watch, and greatest depth rating for each brand.

I think what turns a lot of people away from the DSSD is the thickness/height. It is no doubt substantial.....that’s what I really like about it, but I understand it isn’t for everyone.

The DS is of course thicker and heavier. 3900 meters compared to 500 meters. The DS can be a daily, many members do it and love it.

I daily wear my DSSD D-Blue, but wouldn’t trade for a Pelagos - nice watch for the money, but no where near the quality of the Rolex.

Both very capable watches as tools.

Show me a Pelagos picture that looks like this.

I flipped my tt sub for a Pelagos and go ahead and say: I like the Pelagos better.
It's a wonderful watch. Great lume and super confortable to wear.
Still on the waiting list for a ss sd43 but for now I think it's gone be tough for the ss sd43 to make me forget about my beloved Pelagos.

I would choose the blue Pelagos (poor man's Smurf).

I don’t blame you, I prefer the Pelagos to the Sub as well simply based on wearability and functionality

The pelagos looks great. I love the mat dial and bezel with nato. Deep sea too blingy for my taste.

Often wondered what the DSSD would like like with a full bead blast finish

Agree 100%. The Pelagos sure is a nice watch, but these 2 pieces are not even playing the same game to me

It's gotta be the DS for me, but I do have a soft spot for Tudor (Big Blocks).

I am lucky enough to have the Pelagos, SD50, and DSSD. All of them are truly remarkable in their own and have unique attributes. I don’t consider one “better” than the other. I’ll say the Pelagos is the most accurate and has been from day 1. It also has the best lume and is the most comfortable.

Agree
It’s hard to pick a favorite, but it is really difficult to see where the money went for the Rolex over the Tudor. My DSSD is the ultimate, but from a dollars and cents perspective (Rolex is almost triple), the Pelagos is an amazing value.

I'd go for the Pelagos and never look back. Honestly, I'd already own a Pelagos if my wrist could accommodate one.

Great comparison and nice to see some real watch content through all the other nonsense.

To be fair...Rolexes are very well made and there is a difference in quality you can feel between a Tudor and a Rolex (except the lume and I've heard many complaints about some models being just too heavy). But is that quality difference worth almost triple the price ? That would be the question...

Well, at least, if you buy the right Rolex not much money is lost...

Value and wearability and other factors . . . .

Pelagos . . .
All . . . . . .
Day . . . . .
Long.

The Blue submariner in WG is the best looking watch imo. The problem is… It’s WG and it’s out of my budget unfortunately so I’m not going to get one anytime soon. But the blue pelagos might be my next watch.

My one issue with the pelagos is that it looks almost cartoony when it’s next to a submariner or a SD.

All this talk. Wore my blue Pelagos to the office today and left the DJ home to rest.

Feels good.

I love the Pelagos. It in some ways is more true to the form of the OG submariners than the current ones. It’s more of a purpose designed (might also say “no nonsense”) tool that you can wear anywhere without getting a second glance. It’s not as jewelry like with glossy dial, bezel, and indices. I like that it definitely is not going to garner the attention (maybe undesired attention depending on where in the world you are).

I have a blue pel and a dssd. Ive had a sd43, sold it. And 3 panerai subs. Hands down the pelagos is the best bang for the buck by miles. That thing fits and wears amazing , between the weight and the unique clasp its fit is perfect. The lume is top notch , the bezel almost as good as the dssd. I cant believe its the price it is.

may i ask why you've sold the ss sd43 and chose the pelagos over it ?

I'm in a similar situation...

Absolutely, I feel the same about it. The blue is too fake and engineered.
Best buck spent in this range is the omega Seamaster (new waves dial).

2 reasons , i have mental thing with the balance of proportions. I bought a 45mm Breitling avenger , id had many Bs and loved them , but this had a overly large bezel and the dial of a 40mm. As soon as i saw it i didnt like it. The sd43 is similar in that regard. The second reason was it was in such demand i could make 2500 by selling it , i had to keep it mint for that to happen and i hated worrying about it.
I dove the dial and proportions of the dssd, i wish it was thinner is all.

I thought the bezel looked like a dirtbike tyre on my dssd plus the shiny ceramic can pop just a little too much for a diver. The only dull thing on the pelagos is its tool watch matt finish, its just right in every way
