Not much discount from ADs on ANY model these days even on PM pieces.
Times are not the same. You can still save a bit buying from Gray dealers but from an AD you will be lucky to get any discount. |

I was told to pound sand on TT model. So, it appears discounting across the board has tightened up.
You never know if you don't ask though. Glad I asked. |

Yes, you can certainly ask for discount for all those Rolex sitting in the display cases.

I doubt it. You can go in and ask but they get a lot of traffic and people asking for discounts, pretty sure their answer is the same for most. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

One of my very best friends got a big fat ZERO discount on even a DJ from an AD last week. Even a DD40 from an AD I could only get 5% off. I didnt buy it and it was from an AD i did multiple deals with before.
These days if you plan to buy from an AD MSRP is becoming the norm. |

I would say, to secure business ADs should give a discount. When demand is high, there is no need other than to secure a buyer when times get tough. No discount also means I am free to take my business to someone more friendly/ willing to get me to come back or bring clients. But right now it’s pretty tough. I am hoping that cash makes them move a little. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

there is little point in even trying if you go to ADs with a lot of traffic. i went around all the ADs in nyc while i was trying to decide on the spec i wanted and i asked all of them about discounts and the best i got was like 6% off at tournaeu which at first was like 3% until i said if they give me a good deal i'll take it today, and wempe would've shipped out of state. i assume it would be pretty much the same story in other big cities |

All due respect, you are buying a circa 80k watch in cash??
And you are not sure how to go about asking for a discount? Something doesn’t add up.

I know Rolex is on fire right now but on this particular watch you better ask for a discount, unless you just want to flush 20k down the toilet. Doesn't matter if your ever going to sell or not, this watch can be had for way under MSRP on the second hand market. If it was me, I'd politely tell them you want to purchase, but you'd need a solid discount to pull the trigger. If they decline, move on to the next. If they offer something small, then I'd lay my cards on the table and say this is what I need to get this done today. Never hurts to try, ever. Whats the worst that could happen? They say no? As long as your not demanding or acting entitled to it you have nothing to lose. Its one heck of a piece so enjoy the whole experience.

Everytime someone says "With all due respect" I can't help but think of Ricky Bobby. and I do mean with ALL due respect

Honestly. I would have a really hard time buying a platinum Daytona from an AD.
I love my AD dearly and will buy a WG Sub one day. He knows it won’t be from him. The PM watches take too much of a hit as soon as you walk out the door. Not sure what msrp is but DavidSW has a new with all plastics in place Platinum Daytona (without the diamond hour markers) for $58,000. What is that 20% off??? And you will pay him no tax unless you are In Florida. Maybe a small AD somewhere will do that?? If they are going to stick with no discount or 5% off I would look to the gray market. When I bought my 1st Rolex 10+ yrs ago (when discounts are very common)
Both ADs in Vancouver, BC Me: I will buy a SS sub date today ... how much discount can you offer ? Lugaro: None ... people that can afford a Rolex do not ask for discounts. Me: Thanks you and have a nice day. Drove to Monte Cristo Me: I will buy a SS sub date today ... how much discount can you offer ? MC: I can give you 18% off. Me: Done ... here is my credit card. I will never go back to Lugaro again. She had really bad attitude. |

Is this your first Rolex or first watch? Getting a Platinum Daytona right out of the gates is quite wild.

Reverse this if you’re buying a PM piece! Rolex is the one with the gold. All we've got are these little pieces of paper we hope to trade.

Why should AD provide a discount to you if 100 people is waiting for the same model? You already having chance ahead of the 100 people and still seek the advantage from the store?

That is my reasoning with supply and demand. Assuming 100 (or many) people are trying to get that piece. But if it has been there for 6 months in the glass, maybe the AD has a motivation to move it. If the dead is high, no need to offer a discount. If the demand is low, then maybe so.

Thanks everyone. How do AD's get the Rolex you are looking for? When they don't have it at the location, I have been told, I can get it in 7 days if you buy it now. What are they doing?
