Don't know what today's fascination with ceramic it's not like its something new in watches it's been around since the mid 1960s with brands like Rado. For me you can keep your ceramic and stick it where the sun dont shine not needed in Rolex watches..

I would agree. Ceramic case scares me. Now a Tungsten Rolex would certainly be interesting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ceramic just seems to make me think ‘fragile’

Which Rolex model would you like to see released with a ceramic case option?
I just threw up a little in my mouth. NONE, never.
Go get yourself a white ceramic Chanel with diamonds and stay clear of Rolex. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Rolex is metal .Period
Panerai does ceramic well.Designs are suited to it .Bold big designs but wears very light in ceramic .I have a 292J in 45mm and wears very light . |

No please no. A Rolex needs to feel solid and hefty on the wrist; ceramic would ruin that.

I'm not averse to a CE bezel on the Exp2 altho I do understand keeping this line CE free is a nice idea. |

I'd rather have a titanium Sub or SD. All brushed, of course.

None. That would be a disaster. I have seen an IWC case crack to pieces on a short 1 foot drop from my friend’s bedside table

I was always hoping for some ceramic/metallic hybrid at least for an update to the EXII bezel. As far as a full case, it might be a little hard to see them take one of their already historic lines and change it up that much, so if they do change a full case material, I would hope it would be in a new model. Maybe, I could see them do something like that with the yachtmaster line. |

Shouldn't this thread have been created within the context of the Basel 2019 Prediction thread??

Why is that? Ceramic doesn't shatter unless you beat the everloving crap out of it, that's total BS.
I'd go with a version of the Daytona, or something completely new. Could make a new Airking maybe. The current one is dull. More likely this would be a Tudor though.

i would like to see a ceramic metal hybrid case and bezel. ceramic by itself i think may be too brittle for a rolex case.

It won't happen, but sure, why not. Can seer Tudor having a stab at it...
Ceramic is not that fragile, I've dropped my IWC 3799 from hip height onto a wooden floor and although it was an arse clenching event I wouldn't care to repeat, the case and movement were fine. Newer ceramic composites used by Richemont, Grand Seiko and Omega are stronger. If fragility was a real liability, it's use in watch cases wouldn't be increasing. It holds brushed and high polish finishes beautifully, it won't scratch and the silver finishes, ( Omega Grey Side, Blancpain Bathyscaphe), look pretty metallic. No doubt if "Oysteramic" ever sees the light of day, suddenly it will be the best, most innovative thing ever...
